Default Nassau Blue on a '79?

I have a dark blue '79 that I am seriously considering painting myself. I've seen 2 or 3 cars like mine that have been repainted and the color looks "weak", not like what a dark blue metallic looks like on a later model car. I just seems that the pigment is just not there

Since I've never painted a car before, I'm thinking I should play it safe and stick with the OEM color. However, I think Nassau Blue is an awesome color and it's a traditional corvette color as well. My interior is dark blue, which I would not change.

Suggestions? :chevy

My old '92 vette was Quasar blue. I thought that was my favorite color of blue, but I was wrong. :) The Nassau Blue on my C5 is definately my favorite. I've looked at Electron Blue vettes and those are very nice as well. They are just a bit too dark for my taste. Nassau Blue is very bright (almost glowing) and fetches a lot of compliments. I'd say 95% of all the compliments I get about my vette revolve around the color of it. Quasar is nice too, but again, too dark. When I walk out to my car and see that big nassau blue hood, it looks like the car is reflecting the sky on a beautiful clear day (very deep and rich). Good luck!

Neo;

Is that car a stock interior and paint? I didn't know they put that similar of colors together.

ED79 has a very nice teal blue car - quite distinct!

Yep - original interior and exterior. I've seen two other dark blue '79s and they too had a dark blue interior. I'm not saying this was the rule though. GM would allow certain interior colors with certain exterior colors.

This looks like the same color that was on the 1982 that one best of show at Race Rock in Orlando on Sunday. It looked AWESOME!!!!!! I wish I had my pics developed. I'll try to get it done tonight and scan it in to post it later this evening. In the mean time, there is a pick of the car in the thread titled "Race Rock Event - and the winner is...", but you can only really see the rear 1/4.

Here's the thread:

Gorgeous color though.

Check out this thread if you haven't already. I think this is the blue your speaking of and it was VERY nice. Won the Peoples choice award out of 75 cars comprised mostly of C5's.
