This is my 454th post and its also for something special like the 427th!

When I was here at the forum and had a question on a magazine that was mentioned in the thread on friendly Co(r)-Vetter mailed me and offered me to send me the mag when he finished reading.
It was the Cars & Parts Corvette issue with a 1968 BB Story inside!
As some of you have probably followed my posts or know my sig, I own a 1968 Big Block and I am always interested in Vette Stuff (I live in Germany, its sometimes hard to get here..... :cry )
The mag arrived here today and Rumpity Rump (Dave) mailed it to me for free!!! He even paid the postage fees for me!
I want to use this forum to give Dave a big hand and to honor his deed!

But back to topic:
One of the interesting articles in the magazines covered the Monterey auction - Nicolas Cage (Gone in 60 seconds) was reported buying two Vettes at this auction (1957 Dual Quad / 1968 L-88).

This leads to this topic:

What famous or VIP or wannabeīs do you know that drive or own a Vette?

Lets collect all the names , not just from the Corvette scene....... :conehead

some 5-6 years ago, G.Gordon Liddy owned a ZR1 with Lingy engine....
Justice Clarence Thomas of the Supreme Court owned a vette, ZR1 too I think....

From the "famous musicians" list, I know these as fact:

1. John Bonham (drummer for Led Zeppelin) owned a silver 1966 stingray.

2. Ted Nugent has a ZR-1

3. Ian Astbury (singer for The Cult) owns (I think) a 1968 tri-power 427

4. Matt Sorum (drummer for The Cult) owns a 1967 convert. That pic was in off-topic about a week ago :)

5. I have a 1978 SA and a 1972 coupe :D :lol:

Nicolas Cage owns a couple, I think a 66 and possibly a 69 L-88...not sure about the L-88 though.

Nicolas Cage owns a L-88 for sure, he won the car at the Monterey Car Auction this year. The car is blue exterior and has Ralleys with Redlines.
When I return from the UK I will try to scan and post Nicīs new Vettes....

Yes, the drummer for Def lost his arm to a Corvette.
And I'm not sure about the 66 and led zep. I know he did, in fact, have a 67 L/88 and it was a real car.

I just flew in to Birmingham today and will leave again on Wednesday night.
But the weeks after Iīm in the UK (Birmingham area) from Monday to Friday!

Where are you located?
The secretary in my UK office told me around London??? :confused:

That's a real shame - the Classic Car Show is on this weekend at the NEC in..... Birmingham! VettePaul will be there, I'll be going on Sunday (if our party the night before doesn't get out of control :cheers: ) and GroovyJay may be coming on Sunday as well. A small Corvetteforum meet!

I live on the Surrey, Hants, Berks borders, right behind the Sandhurst Military Academy & next to the River Blackwater (in it if this rain continues!). Your secretary should be able to pinpoint me on a map.

I bet it's brilliant driving a Vette in Germany on the "right" side of the road :) We drove the Vette around Windsor Castle yesterday as I wanted a picture of it with my Vette to post as my sig pic :cool: (but security was too tight :( ) & a group of German tourists were shouting "Ya, Corvette Stingray!" & giving us the thumbs up :) Even Ferraris don't get reactions like that - the whole world knows C3's! :cool:

Michael Jordan Had a handful of ZR-1s when he was a "baseball player" I saw news reports with him getting in an out of them, seems like he drove a different colored ZR-1 everytime I saw him on TV.

Dale Jr. has a C5.

James Cameron had a Callaway.

Bobby Rahal has 2 I think.

Miss America 1992 or 93, Leannza Cornett? had one, a 40th Ruby dealy.

Just thought of Dave Thomas (Wendy's) and remember seeing Johnny Carson driving away from reporters in a white C4.

According to Richard Cole's recent Zep biography, John Bonham bought the 1966 on a whim while in the US. He saw it on a street in New York City, found the owner, and kept offering him more cash until the owner sold it for $18,000, this was in the early 1970's :eek: [according to Richard Cole]
