Default My 383 gets a FAST 90/90 and set of Yella Terra Ultralite RRs

It's time to kick it up a notch on my LS6-based forged 383 and get a FAST 90 with LS2 90mm TB and a set of new Yella Terra 1.7 Ultralite Roller Rockers. Ed Hutchings (edcmat-l1) at Virginia Speed is doing the installation and SD tuning.

Looking forward to the baseline dyno and updates along the way. Should be ready for pick up next Wednesday. I asked Ed for a conservative tune with a richer A/F ratio in the mid-section of the powerband since I track my C5 often at road course events (HPDE).

The following is a list of engine and powertrain mods for reference when the final results are posted next week:
  • LS6 383 Forged Engine by ECS
  • AFR 205 Mongoose Heads 61cc with - 5cc Diamond Pistons
  • Futral Motorsports 239/243 .612/.617 113+3 cam
  • Comp Cam 921 Dual Valve Springs with Titanium Retainers
  • 7.400” Chrome moly Hardened Pushrods
  • Yella Terra Ultralite 1.7 Roller Rockers
  • Melling Performance Duty Lifters
  • FAST 90 Intake Manifold - Ported by Vengeance Racing
  • GM LS2 90 TB - Ported and Polished by Vengeance Racing
  • Callaway Honker Cold Air Intake (CAI)
  • Rollmaster Double-Roller Hardened Adjustable Timing Set
  • American Racing 1 ¾” Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers
  • Random Technology High Flow Catalytic Converters
  • Canton Oil Cooler Thermostat 215*
  • DeWitts Performance Aluminum Radiator
  • Canton 3 Quart Oil Accusump
  • GM T1 Transmission Cooler
  • GM Z06 Power Steering Cooler
  • Redline 10W40 Synthetic Oil
  • Ported LS6 Oil Pump
  • AMW Oil Catch Can
  • Powerbond 25% Under Drive Pulley
  • Katech Adjustable Belt Tensioner
  • Granatelli 8mm GM Performance Spark Plug Wires (1200* High Temperature Boots)
  • NGK TR6 Iridium Spark Plugs
  • 42# SVO Fuel Injectors [Upgrading to Lucas 42# Flow Matched Injectors on 23 Aug]
  • RPS Single Disc Clutch with Aluminum Flywheel
  • RPM Transmission “Level V” MN6 Transmission
  • DTE Stage 2 Micro-polished 3.73 gear set with 300M HD Output Shaft

Oh damn, on the hot seat now aint I?
Pressures on.....
J/K Looking forward to some R&D. We love this stuff. And what better test bed than a first class ride such as this one.
For those that dont know us, we build alot of sick azz rides. From full on drag cars to pretty radical street cars. Imp SSes, Camaros, T/As, Vettes, even some Fords and Mopars just to mix it up.
We should get started on it tomorrow. Got an 07 to tune in the AM, then Mikes goes on the dyno for some floggin!!
Stay tuned!!.....

If you do it over the weekend, Ill drive you up, drop off my car, and come home with you.

Ah, the real floggin' begins when we test the new setup at VIR full course for four straight days (30 Aug to 2 Sep) and then two weeks later at Watkins Glen on 17 & 18 September.

Of course you know - "This means war!"

I'll be down in the basement brewing up another 50RWHP.

Try the Chinese down at Ed's - not bad. Looks like the guys from NoVa ought to get a shuttle service going down to Ed's.

The Harland Sharp converted Stock Rockers are an excellent option, but I wanted to try the new YT Ultralites to see if I they result in an overall improved valvetrain geometry (better wipe pattern) with the higher lift (.615) cam & Comp Cam 921 springs, provide better performance at sustained higher RPMs (5000 to 6000 RPMs) on the track, quiet down the valve train and net me some additional horsepower. They're suppose to fit under the stock valve covers; however, if they don't I will likely stick with the stock rockers.

Well I have everything for the cam ready, and next year cam be the FAST 90/90. My car get real slow parked in the winter.

If the oppertunity arises to get up to Ed quickly, Ill do the cam now, and save up a grand for the 90/90 and add that next year.

Unless you want to drive my car up

I would be willing to drive your car up to Ed's shop when I take delivery of mine next Wednesday morning. I'll PM you details to coordinate this if you want.

That would be awesome of you Mike. I guess you're the unofficial "shuttle" down to Ed's?

How did things go today? Able to get a baseline dyno, RR installed and post install dyno numbers?

Don't tell Phil that my shuttle service route just happens to take me by VIR so I can run a few laps before getting it to your shop.
