Default Kenwood DNX7100 - Compatibility warning

FYI to all 7100 users out there...

I tried to save a little money and use the standard XM (Terk / Kenwood adapter) vs the GXM30 with NAVTalk... I also wanted to use the BT100 bluetooth adapter.

From Kenwood themselves, the BT100 and standard XM will NOT function together, if you want Bluetooth you MUST use the GXM30 for XM.

Hope this helps someone else!

Thomas

For what its worth, the Bluetooth works great!!!

Thought that might be an issue but I wasn't ready to go with bluetooth yet. Thanks for the heads-up.

For the record, I'm guessing the NAvTraffic probably won't work either (without the dedicated Kenwood antenna). If you go into the NAV system and try to access the XM it doesn't work,,, only through the satelite button on the main screen.

The Kenwood tech did tell me that there is an XM radio built into the 7100, but apparently the GXM30 is the only way for it to work...
Your exactly right on the Navtraffic...

Can you tell me, with an incoming call, will the 7100 automatically mute whatever is playing to take the call? Or do you have to mute it first?
Thanks,

Thanks,
It mutes the sound and starts beeping... The first time it happened, the screen went blank for a second and I thought something was wrong!!!

It works great, I have the mic mounted on the bottom of the rear view mirror so driver and passenger can talk. The mic swivles to point at either one...
