Remanufactured auto trans with h/d upgrades
I have a fresh, 0 mile, remanufactured 1991 transmission for sale. It is a 30 spline, lock up version that will be a direct replacement for any late 84-92 c4 vette. It will fit(and upgrade) a 27 spline 84 trans, when installed with a new 30 spline converter.
It is my version of a nice replacement and the following are upgrades:
29 element sprag
lo-roller clutch
"Beast" Reaction Shell
.471 boost valve
hardened, unbreakable pump rings
kevlar band
4th gear only lock up
7 friction 3-4 clutch pack
*Although this trans did not start it's life as a vette trans, it has been properly converterd to vette standards*.
Output shaft, vette servo, 4th gear wide open throttle upshift etc, have all been addressed.
What is NOT included:
**Torque converter(although one could easily be obtained local to you or through me)
** Tailhousing (simply swap yours over)
Speedo gears (swap yours over)
Price is $999
This is an outright price, with no need to send the old trans to me.
$180 would be sufficient to ship this trans anywhere in the lower 48 states, and local pick up is certainly welcome.
Photo is my transmission(for my own 87), but the one for sale looks just like it, minus the tailhousing and billet servo. I just like the pic!

I have a very busy weekend traveling. Big family reunion in Pittsburg, Pa.
I will likely be unable to respond to my pm's from friday-sunday.
I will post up my cell phone number before I leave in case anyone has immediate questions. Calling in the first 1/2 of each day will be best. I plan to do a bit of drinking, and my answers will be more accurate before I booze it up

I might be interested. Any idea what the shipping to Marlboro, Mass (01752) would be? The other option would be to pick it up from you when you move to NH, since I don't need it just yet - was planning on doing a tranny job this winter.

If you added a torque converter, it would be shipped seperately and shipping would be added for it. That would likely be approx $30 additional shipping charge.

question
Pete K,
Got a tranny question for you. If I manually shift my 89 at around 3400, at wot, it doesn't shift till almost 46 or 4700. Is it because the TV cable is making it shift later? Or do I have a problem elsewhere? Also the shift is not crisp, not enough to chirp second. My understanding is that the stall on a stock '89 TC is around 1200, but '85's have a stall of around 1700. True or false? TIA.
Rich K
P.S. Sorry for hijacking your thread. If I had the cash, your tranny would be mine, and I wouldn't have to worry about my '89. BTW, this car only has 45k on the clock.

Shifting before 4600 will not trigger a shift. At lower rpm's the line pressure to the governor prevents the valve from moving. The centrifical force of the weghts eventually move the valve, causing the shift. Holding a gear will only allow for upshifts above the governors shift points.
I am going from memory, but my recollection is 85/86 converters stall @ approx 2025 rpm
89 converters are approx 1600rpm
85 converters are no longer available, but a good shop can make one with no issues.
