LS-3 update with LG Pro Long tubes and a K & N air charger
Hi guys,
My guys have been sending me graphs from the 2008 Corvette all day but I did not get the one with just our headers. The numbers are 418rwhp 413rwtq with just LG Headers no cats.
Here is the graph that includes the K&N Air Charger on this 2008 LS-3 with the M6 transmission.
These numbers with just headers and filter match what a cam only car with headers and a filter use to do. So in effect the extra cubes and air flow in the heads matches what a Cam package would give up in the past.
thanks for your patience. 423rwhp 426rwtq with Just LG Pro Long Tubes and K&N!
Tuning software in a couple of weeks.

The torque is higher than the HP. How many LS2's with headers saw that? I don't ever remember seeing one.

HOLY CRAP!
That means a new 2008 with headers intake and tune is just about equal to a stock C6 Z06
WOW 10 months to go till I can order...its killing me
Good work guys!

Thats crazy. GM made a big mistake.

You know what I mean. With about $3K in mods, a new LS3 will hang with a stock ZO6. Thats like canabalism.

It's never a mistake to improve the base model. Remember, GM has to compete with other manufacturers, not their own Z06. The Blue Devil will take it to the next level shortly.
Not only that, but even with the LS2, for $5K in mods an LS2 car could hang with a stock Z06. It's not like reducing the mod cost from $5K to $3k is that big of a change.
This is a GOOD thing.

Burning Brakes
BUT
I dont know about hanging with one. I mean, the Z still has alot more rubber to hook up and is lighter and has better suspension.
I do find it odd that GM's stated performance on the 08 is only slightly better than the 05-07's.
Could there be a possibility that all of this added power to essentially the same driveline/tires makes the car harder to launch?............. or were they lying about those numbers too.

And I'm assuming that the stock LS3 filter is just as restrictive as the stock Z06 filter element (some called it a thick brick LOL) is? So of course swapping it out should result in some nice gains, even on the dyno (as is evidenced above).
Corvettes > all other cars

The 05-07 C6 headers fit because the ports on the 08 C6 are about 1/8" lower than the Z06 so they might be a mis match if the Z06 version of headers was used. We like the round ports just because of the step at the head face to slow down the reversion but we can discuss that in one of the header wars
and the cold air is the K&N Z06 air charger.
Works like a charm
Thanks

1. Either the new PCM is smart enough to calibrate itself for the increased airflow, or
2. There's even MORE potential with a tune. 440rwhp with headers and tune?
Either case is a win for us 08 owners . . .
