Default [MP3s] Hear and Compare the New NPP Exhaust

OK, I will apologize in advance that the sound quality isn't the best, but at least you can have a comparison!

I used a hand-held digital recorder and stood about 3 feet behind each car to record the sound. You can hear the Standard Exhaust, the NPP Exhaust and the Z06 Exhaust.

Enjoy!

I dunno.....the 06's and 07's weren't enough of a change for me to trade, but the 08's are getting there! I love that exhaust, the new interior, the power, steering feel, MP3's.

Yet with 12k miles on my 05, I'm not sure it's worth the hit I'd take.

hmmmm

Thanks for taking the sound clips! Wow, the NPP sounds like the best of the three IMHO. The Z06 sounds worse off-throttle (more tinny) than the NPP (more throaty).

Hopefully as members begin to pick up 08s this week and next, we'll be able to hear more examples.

The NPP was a much cleaner sound. Glad I ordered it.

Thanks for the clip Dave.

Great idea Dave! Problem is the crummy speakers in my laptop were not able to handle the sounds, so couldn't really tell. Maybe someone with a really nice sound system on their computer could get a better sense.

Can barely tell. You stood too close and distorted the mic in the recorder.

Stand 10 feet back.

Very distorted and cannot tell much about it.

Also the sound from inside the car is every bit as important.

Thanks, Dave! FWIW, it's really cool how you keep finding ways to contribute to this forum.

WTF did they change about the standard exhaust? Mine certainly wasnt even audible when I bought it.

That sounded as loud as my stingers.

Guys, this is a stock exhaust! That is usually the first thing that goes when you start modding, and you will start modding. All you need is a flowmaster kit for $350 and you are already better than this new STOCK exhaust. Not impressed.

I guess I'll have to be the first to ask - DAVE, do you have a 2008 in stock already?

I've had plenty of aftermarket exhausts. When your flowmasters drone at certain speeds, let me know how the "man switch" works for getting rid of the drone

I got a truck load in on Monday, but they don't have Window Stickers yet! I'm hoping that GM mailed them off befoe they took off for two weeks but I'm not holding my breath. I've got a few sold orders sitting here and the customers can't pick them up till they have Window Stickers!

Too bad I actually LOVE the drone. I come from the mustang world and all of my past stangs had the flowmaster american thunder kits installed with various mid pipes, offroad and with cats. The drone is what flowmasters do. Thats the chambered muffler design, not a straight through. You wont get the drone with the straight through design, but you will get the bad popping and krackling sound when shifting and at decel. I also have a MN6 so I can have the drone when I want it or I can make it go away, either way I will be making more HP with the aftermarket kit than any stock kit.

I'm guessing that what you are calling drone and I'm calling drone are two different things. I like loud as much as the next guy, but drone is not a good thing.
