New best ET - In the twelves
Yesterday at Island Dragway, cool air, high barometer. Ran 13.17 on my first run. Then 12.90 on my second run. Unusually good traction on that run - still on street tires. Check the timeslip - left lane

NICE Bruce... Now get some drag radials or ET Streets on that thing so you can launch it...
Thats an easy 12.70 car with a 1.70 60'.
How are you launching? you stalling the converter hard on the brakes or you leaving at idle and flashing it?
I always had the hardest launches leaving low, say 1200-1400 rpms and WOT out of the hole, let it flash to 3800 or so and I my 60's dropped to 1.62-1.65s, down from 1.68-1.72s launching at 2800rpms on the brakes.

Are you still using this same cam ? CCXE262 cam. That cam is awfuly small for a 383. Are you really spinning the rears off the line?

Alan - I launch it just above idle, then WOT. Sometimes more spin than other times. Holding up against the converter would make it worse, right?
NOX Ratt - Thanks. Just barely in the 12s, but I'll take it.
TedH - Its a very docile street car. Cam is mild, converter is not too bad, faily quiet with Magnaflows (except at WOT). The 3.73s are a little tough on the highway.
Grandsport C3 - Thanks. Waiting to see your new numbers when you get back out there.
Yellow73SB - Thanks. What converter are you using?
gkull - Still using the 262 cam. Thinking of going to the XE274. Any thoughts? Doesn't spin the tires too much on a well prepped track .
632C2 - Thanks. That 1.85 time was surprising to me too. Best before that was 1.95.
Glen - Thanks. I knew you'd be impressed.

It really depends on the setup and the converter. Some cars like to be brake torqued(stalled out the converter) , others like to be flashed from idle or slightly above. In my experience, a looser converter usually works the best being flashed from idle or slightly above, unless the tranny has a transbrake. Tight converters usually like to be stalled out on the line(brake torqued until its won't hold anymore)
My buddy's Ls1 car has a 3600 converter, he leaves at about 1600rpms, it flashes to about 4200rpms right from the launch. He 60's 1.58s on ET Streets. Its a cam only car that runs 11.60s, full weight car. If he brake torques it to its max of about 3400rpm, it won't flash as high and he loses 1-1.5 tenths on 60'.
Just try it both ways but either way, 12.90s on radials is awesome!

[QUOTE=gkull;1560909251]I'm very suprized that it is not spinning hard with a 383, 3.73, and 3000 stall.
I think my car hooks fairly well on the track because, with the mild cam, it just isn't all that powerful. Best mph is just over 105, so its no Z06.
Thanks for the cam info. That will probably be next winter's project.

I'm with the rest.....those are great short times for those tires. Looks like a heck of a fun street cruiser. You're running about the same MPH as my '94 LT-1 6 speed did. I pulled off some 2.0X something 60's with it on stock tires and ran 13.20's. I think you've got it doing VERY well!

Man...I finally get in the 9's with this heap....and now you're teasing me with the 8's!! I better call my banker and give him a heads up!!
Seriously.....you're right.....the faster you go....the easier it is. Mine is fun...but I've never considered it scary. I wasn't even worried about running the convertible with no rollbar! Going into the 8's just flat sounds like fun!!
Does it ever end???????
