That sucks. I hope the scumbags are caught and all property is returned in good shape.

This sounds very similar to the other one that was stolen from the Canton, MI area and recoverd. I can't recall if they caught the buggers.

I will keep an eye out for it around here.
I did read some of the other sites and found this happend in Monroe, MI off of I75 exit 17. Close to our Ohio brother and sisters.

At work I'm directly responsible for a truck and trailer like the one described in this thread. Every day it's on the road the thought of it disappearing from a hotel parking lot one day goes through my mind. All that time designing and building the rig, and the cars. I'm sure the guys are insured but you're still out all your time. I really hope these guys get their rig back or at the least the guys who took it are caught. It's good to see this making the rounds on different forums. Hopefully someone sees this who knows something.

I can't add much more then Hal and Stan have posted. The Sheriff's
Deputy who responded said the guys were real pros. There was no
broken glass or signs of any kind of forced entry. He said thieves
will "profile" trucks with car haulers and follow them to hotels... wait a
while then in mere minutes take off with the whole rig.

What really upset me was that I passed on on three other hotels
because they didn't feel right (dimly lit parking, unsafe looking area,
etc.) and I selected the Hampton Inn because it was a newer hotel and
the parking lot was very well lit. There was even a light post right at
the front of the truck!

The Deputy basically said that if the thieves really want your stuff...
they'll get it. So the lesson here is to make sure your insurance policies
are current and provide enough protection for you. Oh... and I guess
use a toter setup so you can actually sleep with the rig!

So while logically I know I did all I could have done, that doesn't help
me feel any better for the Hal or Stan. The SRT-4 program was
progressing well and we were looking forward to Toronto.

But talk about a sick feeling... coming out of the hotel and seeing an
empty spot where you parked a dually and 48' trailer is NOT something
I wish on anyone... Then to have to make the phone call to Hal... who
was starting his vacation... that ranks as one of my worst days ever!

No news, but here is some more information

The entire rig was stolen from a Hampton Inn at exit 15 off of I75 in Monroe about 25 miles from Livonia, MI.

The cars have Dodge Motorsports engines in them with sealed turbos, oil pans, and valve covers per the rule book.

Each car has carbon fiber hood, deck lid, and 3R racing rear wings. The wheels are SSR Comp wheels in 17" size.

The Honda 4-wheeler was a brand new Honda Foreman red with no dirt on it as it was used as a paddock vehicle.

All of the glass on the cars is lexan, Moton shocks, Eibach springs, racetech racing seats, comp gauges for boost, water temp, and oil pressure.

Carbon fiber front splitters with Dodge Viper Comp Coupe adjusters.

When did this happen, is there any lettering on the trailer, or is it solid white. I saw a trailer yesturday close to my home about 5 miles, i have never seen one that big around here, I live in eastern KY. I need a better pic of the trailer, it was all that i saw but it may be a lead.

  • When did this happen?
Between Monday evening (6/18) & Tuesday morning (6/19)
Rig was taken from a Hampton Inn off of exit 15 of I-75 in Monroe, 25 miles from Livonia.

It will be great if you can provide a lead that results in the return
of the equipment to the team. If you go to check it out, don't go
alone, tell someone else where you are going, don't take chances,
let the authorities do their job.

Unfortunately, it turns out there is no need to check on
the trailer in e-KY.

From a post at SCCA Pro Racing this morning by the owner

The truck was recovered somewhere near Detroit with minor damage
- the trailer was recovered somewhere else also near Detroit - burned
to a crisp. Contents of trailer were gone.

Please keep your eyes open for these cars and/or parts. Thanks!
