I considered relocating the battery and due to all the requirements plus the venting of gasses; (Optima's vent a miniscule of gas as well), I decided that this mod is really only for those that track their cars regularly. There is however a nice wiring kit that american auto wire sells for a reasonable price.

I've been wanting to do this mod for some time now but NHRA makes the job a real pain in the azz. Most drag strips follow NHRA rules (even for test & tune / just for fun events) so to relocate the battery you have to jump through a bunch of hoops, the worst being you need a kill switch mounted and plainly visible at the rear of the car. Installing an on/off switch at the original battery location is not good enough - already asked - don't know why they have to be so inflexible for street cars. I have an 26lb Odyssey 925 (gel cel) so venting is not much of an issue - fits great in the rear compartment also - should I ever get it mounted there.

I think they require the switch if the battery is inside the passenger compartment.
I've been to the strip, (NHRA), numerous times and they've never even popped the hood of my car, much less checked the battery location.
The C4's battery is in such a concealed location that I seriously doubt if they would notice.
If you decide not to relocate the battery, you could still get a lighter weight battery, listed on Haibeck's website. That's what I did, and it has worked out well.

The tech guys I've dealt with locally have been pretty hardcore regarding the rules - they act like rookie cops looking for their first bust. When I ran at the Vegas strip last year they didn't even open my hood, hell they hardly even looked at my car at all.

I think its a waste of time...Out here you dont need a remote kill unless it had been relocated, has to be on the rear of the car, visible. Otherwise needs a hold down. They are somewhat strict out here, no way anyones getting past tech without gettng checked out.
