LGM G7X4 Heads and Cam Report
Hey Folks,
Well, I have been wanting to get LG's heads and cam done on my new, well not new anymore, Z and I finally was able to get it done. Thanks very much to Lou, Mike, Louis, Anthony, Sean, Kevin and the gang for getting me in and out so fast. I am heading out for the Hot Rod Power Tour on Monday and I just couldn't go out with less HP than I had the last time I went. Which was in 2004 when I had my 02Z with the first LGSR7 motor in it. that one made 530/530 but we had to do so much to get it there it wasn't funny. I told Lou and Anthony that I wanted at least 550RWHP and over 500 RWTQ. Anthony said the X4 cam would be between 550 and 580 RWHP.
Well, what started out as just heads, cam and clutch did expand a little. Here is what I ended up with:
G7X4 Heads and Cam pkg
Exedy Twin Disc Clutch
Ported TB
LG Radiator
Tuning, obviously
C5 Half Shafts
K&N Cold Air intake
Sean loaded up a tune and we fired it up on the dyno. First pull:
571.3 RWHP
523.4 RWTQ
Right out of the box. Awesome job Sean.
Second Pull putting in some fuel to richen it up a bit:
571.9 RWHP
521.5 RWTQ
Third pull, no changes just time to cool off:
571.5 RWHP
523.6 RWTQ
Clutch takes a little getting used to, but it definitely needs a big clutch. Cam is lumpy and may not be for the faint of heart. If you don't like lump, go with the X3. Idles with no surging at 1050 rpm. No loading up or backfiring, no surging anywhere in the range, and it is over 500 TQ from about 4200 to close to 6K and stays above 400 all the way to 7200.
I am very happy with the mods and of course the great service, as usual. Much thanks to Lou and the gang for making my Power Tour trip much more entertaining.
Now I need tires, coilovers, and a carbon fiber drive shaft.

Would you share
Randy,
Thx for posting. Great numbers! Would you mind sharing the total cost? Also, what is the difference between the X3 cams to yours?
TIA!

Sweet! What was the price, please? And how fast were they able to get you in and out? Thinking about shipping my car to the mainland for a vacation and driving through TX.

Let me see if I understand this correctly - You made those kind of numbers with stock exhaust manifolds? No headers?
Maybe I missed something? (It's altogether possible - I haven't yet had my coffee!)
Eitherway, great number! Not much on the road that will even keep up with you, much less pull on you!

We could only wish that these numbers could be made with stock manifolds.
LG Pro Long TUbe Headers were on the Goss Car.
Too much fun for just one guy to have.
Thanks
