Ls2 VS Ls6 intake Porting tests
Ok here are the results of an intake job that I did today.
The car in a c5 Z06 mild cam and heads it had an ls6 intake and throttle body. The base line run for this set up is the Blue run
418rwp 412tq
Then we changed over to an ls2 intake and throttle body all 90 mm.
the final numbers on this can be seen from the red run. 422 rwp 407 tq
Then after being slightly dissapointed in the ls2 set up I decided to try the ls6 porting. I went ahead and ported that out and slapped it on the car. and made 427rwp 420 tq. Seen in the Green run on the Graph
So in short dont wast you time and money on the Ls2 stuff if you already have an ls6 setup. We saw a 4 rwp gain and a loss of 5lb torque going to the ls2.
Porting the Ls6 over the stock ls6 netted a gain of 9 rwp and 8lbs of torque. With a gain of 9rwp and 9tq at4700 rpm over stock as well.........So I would say that would be the route to go if you are looking into your intake performance.
I do feel that there may be a few more horsepower in the ls6 port job but there is not 20! I think that an average of 9-13 would be a safe estimate of the possibilities for ls6 porting.
These were my findings all done today on my dyno. I wish I could throw out a 20rwp gain with the Ls2 but it is not there! Enjoy

I swear I won't say anything to him Rich seriously I was not planning to do my intake, but if I can see some small gains with a LS2 intake over my LS1 I would be interested in yours if Dino doesn't take it. I don't have the time to do the install and stuff now, but after Corrvette Magic I might take this one. What I have is what I have. I am not going to change anything else before CM. I need to put a few miles on this car before then.

To have Robert do your LS6 intake while he is R&R your cam and heads?
My plan is to let Robert do mine while Eddie has it off for heads R&R. Should see a big gain in HP and Torque when that's done

Robert is going to be a busy man
For those who don't want to go with a 78 FAST or don't want to shell out the moolah for the 90 FAST, this is going to be a nice up graded MOD.

So is the LS6 even worth considering with my current setup??? I am not going after Heads and cam for sometime. If I can ever get this car right from my last host of mods, I am going to get new interior and alittle bling for under the hood.
