Default FOUND NEW easy way to disable 1-4 Skip Shift

My Corvette mechanic suggested a simple way to disable the 1-4 Skip Shift feature in a C6.

Remove the #10 fuse (is a 10Amp fuse), abeled MAN TRAN SOL in the fuse box under the hood on the passenger side.

Simply remove this fuse and the Skip Shift feature is disabled as the fuse provides power to the Skip Shift Solenoid.

I didn't do mine yet but another customer reports no problems and no CEL.

Is that the only thing that fuse connects? Sounds too good to be true.

That would be unbelieveable if that is all there is to getting rid of it. I'll keep watching this thread to see if it really works.

I tried mine tonight. That's all the fuse does. Try it yourself, it's just a fuse to pull.

I'll keep up with this to. I would assume this would work on my C6 Z06
also. As far as I know all the electronics should be the same on a Z06.
Is anyone trying this? If so do any codes pop up etc.? Like everyone
says, sounds too good to be true.

The service manual list #10 as Manual Transmission Solenoid fuse.

Did the skip shift light on the dash light up?

The wire diagram shows that it only goes to the transmission solenoid.

Where was your mechanic two years ago?

This was given to me by the tech at the dealership. I showed him the 1-4 eliminator I bought so we could install it while the car was up on the lift and he said why bother, just pull this fuse. He printed out the wiring diagram that shows that the sole purpose of this fuse is to power up the skip shift solenoid.

I'm also curious does the 1 to 4 light still come on. It's raining here
so I'm not going to try it now.

I just took mine out and we will see tomorrow morning if the dash light comes on.

Default Excess Inventory

Not sure about that, but they will end up with a lot of excess inventory. As someone who purchased the Cags eliminator I'm the one feeling stupid. As soon as the maint manuals were released we should have explored this option!
Thanks for the tip.
