My Katrina coupe
This is a project I started in late October last year, it's just about to come off of the jack stands so I can do the paint and body work so I figured I'd share a couple of pictures, don't be shy tell me what you think.
Here is the link to my photo album:

I'd really like to thank Gene Culley who provided a tremendous amount of assistance locating alot of obscure and hard to locate parts for this project.
I'd also like to thank Bob at Ken Fichtner Chevrolet who sold me the new firewall and windshield frame last October which is the whole reason I decided to get into this project in the first place.
And Gene (Karshop) who also provided alot of parts and technical advice/assistance.
Thanks everyone.

OK. Someone has to ask the question.
ARE YOU INSANE?
What is this all about?
Seriously, sending a man to Mars and back would be MUCH easier.
Maybe even cheaper.

Hey Runamuk -
Your 3.73 rear carrier would have gone good in that car But I ain't givin' it up!
You said that car was completely flooded, correct? What year is it? Mileage? It's gonna turn out nice (love the shale colored interior), but having done a rebuilder myself, I'd be worried about the electronics being a total mess
Are you replacing EVERYTHING electrical, or how do you plan to avoid electronic gremlins?
How did you come accross the car and get to buy it, and what did you end up paying, if you will - drop me a PM on that one if you will.
I'd be interested in hearing how it turns out when all done - I'm not scared of rebuilders, but water submersion scares me a little - so I'm interested in hearing how it goes for you.
Keep up the GOOD work, and post pics along the way.

I've replaced all of the wiring except for the harness's for the front and rear facia's lighting and the fuel pump harness, these 3 harness's were salvageable and undamaged also 2 out of the 3 are easily replaced, I've also replaced all of the modules/computers.
BTW - I recently came across this guy who had a car even worse than mine, check out page 3 images 13,14 and 15.

I backed out of a Katrina vert
After I saw what it was going to take $$$$$ I backed out of what you are doing. Mine was just doused in brackish water but there wasn't one item except the body that was salvagable. And I do mean everything else was junk. I had several other people who had done numerous rebuilds warn me against even starting. It was going to need a complete electrical, motor and trans rebuild. Do you realize you are going to have to rewire the whole dash. That is a tough project in a car that is in good condition let alone one that will have problems effecting other problems. It will be impossible to troubleshoot.
0n mine only the body and frame had any value was good. Neither had any damage on it so I ended up selling it for what I had in it.
If your tackling this project as a time filler I can understand it. But if you are doing it to have a dependable, cost efficient car your going to be dissappointed. That was the advise I got that stopped me from continuing.

This is an 04 Commemorative Edition Coupe I bought it on Ebay for $7600 which is about $7700 more than it was worth. I wasn't worried about it being submersed what I was worried about most was the condition of the frame and once I cut out the windshield frame and roof bow everything checked out great.
I've replaced all of the wiring except for the harness's for the front and rear facia's lighting and the fuel pump harness, these 3 harness's were salvageable and undamaged also 2 out of the 3 are easily replaced, I've also replaced all of the modules/computers.

My heart goes out to you folks putting your life (and Cars!) back together in the aftermath of something like that.
