I just saw what I believe to be a war-bonnet yellow C3 Corvette in Apollo 13 (driven by the guy who couldn't go up because he susposedly had measels - I don't remember his name...). As well as a red one that Tom Hanks drove.

Anyone know the years and models of the beautys?

Any other Movie Vettes you can think of?

I've got this soft spot for "Bullitt" I know its not a Vette but see my website in my sig and you'll understand.

Funny thing. I just turned off Apollo 13 about 15 minutes ago. I noticed the Corvettes as soon as they showed up on the tube but I didn't get enough of a view to see it.

The HBO mini series From the Earth to the Moon. In one episode the crew of Apollo 12 all bought matching 1969 Big Block Coupe's. One scene was cool because the were having their pictures taken in all sorts of poses with the cars. At the end of the scean I think it was Al Bean (the commander) who jumped ito one of the other crew members Vette and sped off. It sounded great when he hit the gas. They all had matching paint jobs. I don't think the one in Apollo 13 is War Bonnett Yellow..it looks too dark.
Here are some picture Chris Fowler '80 took at a recent Vette show here in Austin, Tx of the Lunar Module Pilots car. The little thing above the Stringray emblem is part of their custom paint.

I think the two vettes in the movie Apollo 13 were 70 models. I noticed the seats and the louvers instead of gills on both the red one looked like a 70 model. The WB Yellow one had the 70 type side louvers too.
That was a little bit of an anachronism, since the first moon landing was July 20, 1969. My 69 was made on July 14, 1969 and the first 70 models didn't roll of the production line until January 1970. The 69 model year was extended because of a strike in May or June of 1969. Since the Apollo 13 mission took place in April of 1970, I guess the WB Yellow car could have been a 70.
The 69 BB coupes the Apollo 11 astronauts all had were Riverside Gold and black custom paint jobs. GM only produced 3 cars in that color combination, and it was for the original moon landing astronauts.

I was looking at those pics and thinking "Man...those look just like mine." Then I noticed you were in Round Rock and figured they just must be similar since you could have been there too. Then I read your post. :D

I forget who the actor was but in the movie, Terminal Velocity, He is chasing the bad guys and steals a late C4 in competition yellow. It was pretty cool seeing it fly through the desert. :cheers:

Charlie Sheen -- only good part of the movie.

He "boosts" it from the car wash valet. As he goes hauling azz into the street he passes a guy in a yellow jacket with a C4 emblem on it (the owner). The guy in the jacket is all smiles and says "I've got one just like that !". Not anymore -- Charlie just stole HIS Vette and was heading for the AZ desert.

I was channel surfing last week and saw a 1978 Corvette Pace car in "Earth Angel" which was driven by Erik Estrada. I watched the rest of the movie but didn't see it again.

when i was like 13 or 14 (not too long ago) there was a movie on USA i think its called Stingray, featured 2 guys drivin around in a red 64 roadster.. beautiful car, till they had it painted so the cops wouldnt notice the 10 lbs of coke that was hidden in the pass compartment (they didnt know about it) but the good news was that the paint washed right off in a car wash..

and i think Poison Ivy 1 has a 64 or 65 drop top in red.. but got smashed by a typical teenage girl behind the wheel..

The Vette in Boogie Nights was Orange, there was a movie out a little while ago, with a bunch of wierd super heros, and i can't think of the name(Strike 2 for me), anyway, It had a 78 Pacecar that was streched in to a limo, that they completely destroyed. That's all I can think of, but hey It's 1:30 in the morning so I guess Im justified.

Let's see, Theres a red c4 in Encino man, and One in Austin Powers, I think Bond or one of the bad guys drove an 84 back when they were new. The president of the Delta Fraternity Drives a c1 in Animal House, Then theres the Corvette Summer car, I'm sure i'll think of more

Danny Devito drove a red 89 convertible in War of the Roses. I think he played a lawyer in that one.

What about Sam Malone's Corvette on Cheers? Did we ever see that?

I think there was a blue 69 or so in Thelma and Louise.

I think the name of the show was Kuffs? Christian Slater drove about a 92-93 convertible of his bosses which got melted in an explosion.

In Reindeer Games there is a guy waxing a 69 I think out infront of a casino in the snow!
