Update: C-4 vs. WRX
You guys may have remembered a post that I had a while back. I raced (on private property SANCTIONED EVENT LOCALLY) my neighbor's 2006 WRX and he always left me at the line and I could not catch him after that.
Well, this weekend he let me drive his WRX. I drove it like I drove my vette and it did not seem that fast at all. Then I realized that you have to rev the snizzot out of these cars to get any decent power. The power exists only at the very top of the rpm range. It truely is a different experience than driving a vette. It feels downright uncomfortable to me.
He only let me drive because someone whupped him good with a modded 1993 4 door honda civic! Hahahahahaaa.
When I get my c4 back together, I shall add insult to injury. I plan to video tape my next encounter with him (if I win )

I was racing my brother's STI when my vette broke. Any time we were running on the air base, we had to rev it at 6k rpm to get a decent launch on the runway with out bogging down. Allwheel drive is a blast to auto-x.

The WRX is pretty slow. The WRX STi is not.
Those cars have the meanest holeshot out of anything near their price range on street tires. I have trouble with them at the track pretty often.
If you don't have drag radials to beat him off the line, you'll need a healthy LT1 to catch him on the top end.

Talking auto cross, we teach the Vette guys to leave their ego's and expectations at the gate. These short wheelbase 4wd high horsepower to weight imports will kick your butt. When it's all over, they still wish they had a Vette. Just remember the LT-Xs also rely on higher rpm for horsepower.

You should be able to get in the 12's with just gears, exhaust and tires.
I would go with better gears though. 3.07 on an LT1 is not optimal. On an L98, yeah, LT1, no.

Since mid feb to till now, i have drag racing every week infact twice last week and i raced with WRX few times, none of em came ran 12's all of em are in 13.xx, off the launch they never beat me but come close at the finish line, i have too many mods on my car though, my best run so far 12.321at 110 with 1.749 60 ft time but pretty much 12.4-12.6 consistent, advantage of those cars are light weight and they weigh only 2500 lbs. see mods under sig.

Speaking of ego. (No, most people do not want a vette.)

a 3.45 or 3.73 max would be an ideal gear for the auto.
