Default Header's Install-how to-????

OK, I have done a lot of headers on C3's and other older cars etc.

I am going to be installing my long tube and the rest of the way back on my 07 C6 when they come in this week.
Is there anything I should know, things I should or should not do. Short cuts or any tips appreciated. Thanks Paul

Some headers will slide right in from below, some from above. Some require removal of the starter or steering, some don't. So it really depends on what LT you plan to install.

I book marked this in case I do a DIY install.

It says to remove the spark plugs, I'm not sure about that.

I removed the plugs. Real quick job to make sure you don't hurt anything.

removing the plugs is 'six of one, half a dozen of the other', meaning it really doesn't matter, they won't get in the way, just personal preference.

once you get the headers bolted up, start from the back and work your way forward.

Reading that article it looks like header swaps on the C6 are much simpler than on a C5 is this the case?

Can headers be changed with the car on Jackstands? Is there enough clearance?

I am in the process of installing my headers now. I am using jackstands and have the car about 16" off the ground, which is plenty of clearance for installing American Racing headers.

I did not remove the starter or plugs, and had no problems because of that. I did however put duct tape on the end of the starter where there is a bolt sticking out, and along the frame areas where the headers might scrape against (my headers are Jet Hot coated).

I have been working on this on and off for about 3 days now (I am in no hurry), and I expect to have 4-5 hours into it by the end.

It's been a pretty easy job with only a few PITA areas. I am doing the install myself, but there are a few times when having an extra pair of hands would help.

I did mine in 4 hours with another pair of hands. I didn't take out the spark plugs either.

Installed LG with Hi-flow cats & X-pipe on jack stands on Friday afternoon after work, It took 4 hours and where a lot easier than I thought.
Just make sure you have everithing you need laid out and the proper tools, the only thing I wish I had would be a helper.
Good luck
