Lowered, wheels, Recaro, Sharkbar, harnesses: PHOTOS
I have finished preparing my '07Z for the track!
Wheels/tires:
CCW 18x12 & 18x13 One piece forged wheels.
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 295/30-18 & 345/30-18, wear rating 80 (stock=220).
Note the Cup tires have significantly less traction than stock tires when cold! Personally tested and verified!
Car was lowered approximately 3/4" and no clearance issues! No bushings were cut and there was a little adjustment remaining.
Front wheel:
Rear wheel:
Rear view:
Recaro seats, Sharkbar, Schroth Profi II-6 Hans Harnesses:
With stock seats removed the steering wheel will not move and there is an airbag alarm. The front airbags are probably not functional (next project).
Also added:
Hawk HP-Plus Brake pads all around, oversize front brake air ducts, stainless steel brake lines, Castrol SRF Racing brake fluid.
Suspension was set to:
Front:
-1.7 degrees camber
+7.6 degrees caster
+.01 degrees toe (essentially zero)
0 degrees steer ahead
Rear:
-1.1 degrees camber
+.21 degrees toe
0 degrees thrust angle
Weight corner balanced:
Front driver: 829#
Front passanger: 839#
Rear driver: 794#
Rear passanger: 802#
Total weight: 3264# Interesting!!!!
Ready to bend around a right turn!
Now the hard part. Waiting for the #$%^$$@#!%#&%&^^%#$$@%$@$ weather!

Very nice. I assume you got the wiring schems I sent to you last week?
About the brake ducts. I assume you used 3 1/2 high temp hose, or did you go with a DRM or similar replacement duct. If hose, how did you mount it to the existing duct, and to the spindle area? Thanks.

Wow... really nice. Curious about the break ducts. Also, I would think that the air bags could be bypassed with an appropriate resistor, as could the seat position sensor (which should make the wheel move.) Once I get the service manual, I'll check the schematics and get back to you.

Thanks for the mention!
Not only would I be proud, I am!
Kent,
Your car looks great.
A quick word about the Cups. Those are the sizes I ran all last year.
They will have less traction initially in warmer weather too, so please be careful. When I was too lazy to swap the stock wheels and EMTs back on, I would go for a quick highway drive to get the temps up. The Cups are awesome on the track. They need heat so you need to be patient. They take a few laps to warm up but when they come in, you'll know. AT CMP last October at the NCM event, it took me 15 minutes to get them hot, but is was cold there. They work well at 37-39psi. Once you get them above 41psi watch out, grip goes away. I started mine off at 28-29lbs and usually picked up 9-10psi, but that will be determined more by your drivng habit and track make up.
Where will you be running?
If you want more shoot me a PM. It sounds like you had some assistance from allanlaw. That's great as he is a wealth of good information.
You're a short time away from having a lot of fun.

I ran the pilot cups and like them. just make sure you follow the advice above and don't push the car until they are warm I think the supercar f1s are better overall unless you take the time to let the cups "have a little foreplay" then they are pure sex!!

Colin talked about using high temp hose, though I don't know if it was part of a kit. I will look at the receipt and let you know tomorrow. I will also try to pull a wheel and get some pics of the installation.
One question I had was about the inlet point under the front air dam. It appears they are relying on an air compression zone to force air into the hose. I wonder if adding a short scoop on the back of the inlet opening would drive more air in?

You are absolutely correct, the fronts are 18x11! Too many numbers rolling around in my head! Good thing I didn't order 13 x 18 for the rear!

It was love at first sight for the seats for me. They are normally a special order item from Recaro which include higher quality leather, colored stitching and embroidered logo. There are several colors available. This is where I purchased the seats and they have some in stock. They also performed the installation on sliding tracks.

They are not as comfortable as the stock seats, with less pading and no adjustments except fore and aft. They really hold me in place, however, and that is the point! I weigh 155# and there is some room for a larger individual. It is probably best to check fit, just like purchasing shoes!

Nice Track Focused Updates
Your setup looks like a great upgrade to make the car track worthy. Can you post where you sourced each item? This would be a benefit for the vendors you chose and for others that might want to do the same mods as you did. Thanks for sharing your updates

The wiring diagrams are a great start but I am not sure they include everything I need. There are a lot of wires and connectors in the seat and two black boxes that then talk to one of the primary car computers. I don't want to burn out something in the car.

Nice set up. Thanks for sharing.
From what I am reading, you are saying that the Airbags don't work after you remove the factory seats? I didn't know that. I'll be watching for your correction to the issues.

What were the offsets used on the wheels?
