Default 4.10's are in..woo hoo!

i picked up my car with the 4.10's in it last night.lets just say the difference is like comparing walking a poodle on a leash to being pulled by a 100lb pit bull on a leash.
maybe not that dramatic but when you mash the gas in first or second it lunges forward like an angry bull seeing red.I LIKE IT.sixth gear is actually usable.
this is nothing new to the guys who have already done it.however until you feel it you don't really know what you are missing!
for anyone close to raleigh/durham nc the guy who did the install is skip at excel auto.his number is 919-956-8947 or 1-888-262-2122.he has a nice clean shop and is very lt1-ls1 knowledgeable.he is professional and a pleasure to talk to.
he charged my $475 labor to remove/setup gears/reinstall the differential with me supplying the parts.

Sounds like a worthy upgrade, what are your redline mph ratios?

My stock LT4 ratios are as follows:

1st 51 mph @ 6300
2nd 78 mph @ 6300
3rd 105 mph @ 6300

Im not really sure after that, I usually pay more attention to the road around me at those speeds...

Im interested what the 4.10s will put my shift points at mph-wise.

Looks like this from the calc.

1st 44 mph @ 6300
2nd 65 "
3rd 91 "
4th 117 "
5th 157 "
6th 235 "

Does that seem right, those of you with 4.10s?

If you do any highway driving, 4.10's are way too much gear for your auto.

My LT4 Trans Am LOVED 3.73's! From what I've read 4.XX for a stick and 3.73 for an auto

Uh oh, I might be in trouble next time we head to Fayetteville. Congrats on the install. That should turn your car on with the other mods you've got. Let me know when you're going to head back to the track Sticky tires a definite must have now!!!

i havent made any redline shifts yet so i can't attest to mph at shift points.
the kumho ecsta mx tires i ran last time hooked hard with a small burnout.i have since sold my chrome c5 wagon wheels and tires and put the sawblades back on with gy f1 eagle gs d3 on the rear.we will find out how well they hook.

Glad you like em. Dont use 6th for acceleration it shares the synchro with reverse and is prone to melting under load. DOnt ask me how I know, and 4 others zf-6s ive seen apart.

That's interesting, could you elaborate on that some more? Is it the synchro or gear that is prone to melting? Is the synchro really doing anything once the car is already in 6th gear?

Happy with the intall, any additional noise?

i bought my gears from the dodge dealer.they are dana spicer gears(same as viper).i have a friend who is the parts manager there so i got a good deal.$200 bucks iirc.there seems to be the slightest whine from them but it may have been there before.i never checked/listened for it before.with the radio on at any level you would'nt here it.i am happy with the install and it is really convenient to have CAM(carolina auto masters) two blocks away to reprogram the speedo.(dyno tune also).he is in durham so it would be a short haul from greensboro.if i can help in any way let me know.

Thanks George.
I had my tunning done at CAM, so that would be convenient to stop by after doing the gears for the speedo update. I think Jeff will do that for free, since it is "off-dyno" and I paid for the full tune package. Anyone know for sure? I'll give him a call too.

Anyone use Yukon Gears?

i have heard good things about randy's gears(yukon).i don't know if i would chance it though.
