Default Can anyone who put the Hawk Ceramic Pads on their Z follow-up with a report......

A report on:

How did they bed?
Any squealing?
Fade?
Dust levels?
Pedal feel?

Thanks,
Bone

Bedded nicely.
No squealing at all.
No fade in everyday driving or from heavy pedal stopping from over the limit speeds.
Dust is very minimal for my polished wheels now.
pedal feels like they don't bite initially like the oem pads, but they stop just as well.

I have had the Hawk Ceramic pads on my C6Z for the past month. After the first week, my wheels barely were dirty. Unlike the stock pads were the wheels were filthy after one day of driving. No sqealing, braking seems comparable to stock. Don't run these on the track though. We carry them in stock and have installed several sets, we all of our customers very happy with lack of brake dust.

This is fairly typical with ceramic pads.

I'd never heard that. I drive home like a day at the track...I think I'll live with the dust!

Here is some info from Hawk:
Hawk Performance introduces a unique ceramic composite formulation specifically developed to meet the ultra-low dust and low noise attributes of Original Equipment ceramic brake pads while maintaining the high friction levels professional brake tuners have grown to expect from Hawk Performance. Hawk Performance Ceramic Brake Pads do not compromise performance and offer a solution to many consumers' number one complaint: DUST! Performance Ceramic Brake Pads also feature a fade resistant, linear friction profile that allows your ABS brake system to work more effectively.

Hawk Performance Ceramic Brake Pads — Quiet, Clean, Safe and Fast Stopping

On the road course, your brakes will reach a much higher operating range versus street driving. All of the ceramic pads are designed for street driving and those temperature ranges encountered in street driving.

Love them so far for everyday street driving. CarboTechs go back in for the track events.

It all depends on what track you're running. Some tracks require harder braking than others. Limiting your straight away speed will help.

Hey GaryZ06. Get this, the stock GM pads are about $340 for a set of front and $340 for a set of rear.
We can do the Hawk Performance Ceramic pads, front and rear sets for $250 plus shipping. That was $250 for front and rear! We have them in stock.

Thanks for the encouraging reports gents! Mine are going on in about a week and although I felt the dust would be low, I was hoping there would be no squeal.

After reading about the squeal in the C6 section (on a different Hawk compound) I had to ask. This forum is a great place.

Can a guy with average to good mechanical skills remove the calipers and install the new pads from the other side? I don't want to struggle with the side bolts. Once you remove the caliper, is it obvious how to remove/reinstall the pads? TIA

That's the way we do it. Take off the 2 caliper mounting bolts is the easiest way.
