Wicked system in the works (pics to come)
after a several months of research and budget analysis, i'm currently purchasing pieces to what will soon be the crown jewel of any install i've done:
Head unit: ALPINE CDA 7998 (old school fantom face unit)
Processors: Alpine ERA G320 and Audiocontrol Epic 150 Sub processor
Main Amps: (2) Alpine MRP F250
Sub Amp: Rockford Fosgate T3002
Drivers: Alpine SPX 177r (front and rear... i like the rear fill)
Sub: JL 12W6V2 in Custom box by NCR
Complete Dynamat extreme kit to be installed as well.
Wiring will be provided by knukoncepts and i will be building a custom amp rack. You'll have to forgive me, my digital camera is giving me hell.

System is on hold. My dad had a bad accident at work that tore up his figner pretty bad. I'm in charge of the family business while he's in recovery.
the good news is that after surgery, doctors think he'll be able to keep his finger. He has circulation and it seems that his training in the USMC for tramua control techniques has helped quite a bit.

Update: well since, my dad's been at the hospital i've been running the family store. When i have down time, i can work on little parts of the system (mom insists i don't use power tools and i agreed)
He came hom today but still has some healing to do. His finger looks like it's going to be ok, but right now is quite possibly one of the most grotesque things i've seen attached to a person. (good thing the bandages aren't see thru)
today i used the electric engraver to etch the plexiglas. Based on other forums dremels seem to be tool of choice but i feel my skills are better with an engraver. I plan to use cathodes to produce a cool lighting effect.
And here's a drawing of the amp rack in cut away view.
still waiting on the dynamat.... the 200 amp alternator should be here by mid next week.

looks cool, i'd suggest playing with some sidelighting with leds to really lighten up that engraving. also, if you want to go with a 'two color' design let me know and i'll try to describe how to make a multi color etch.

i think i'm going to stick with just the blue. i waqs going to try a blue red combo....but things just came out purple.
the biggest design obsticle so far has been trying to decide the placement of the tweeters. I finally decided on the door pulls for the front and i'm going to use the flush mount in the back right next to the woofers (to get closer to on axis mounting) The last component should be here by monday, so I can dive in then.

Update: In laying out the center of the amp rack design, i decided on a tri-level wiring setup where the power/ground would be onthe bottom, RCA on the middle level and the speaker wires and Xovers on the top:
Here's what i did:
In addition, i finally got the optics worked out with the cathodes and the etched plexi:
and the one we've all been waiting for:
