Default How to post pictures 101 With visual aids part deux

Since I still get pm's asking about picture posting I thought I would post an updated picture posting lesson. This site will resize your photos to a forum appropriate size as well. It also has more options and is a little more reliable.

Go to www.photobucket.com

PINK ARROW is the browse button. Hit this and locate your picture on your PC double click on the picture.

It will look like similar to what's inside the pink circle below when finished.

After you have you picture location in the box. Click upload. This is the
GREEN ARROW.

Then this screen will come up with a little pic of the one you've chosen.
BLUE ARROW.

If it is correct copy and past the info in the IMG box indicated with RED ARROW into your reply on the forum.

If you don't know how to copy and paste, it goes like this.

Put your cursor, arrow, pointer, or whatever you call it in front of the first thing inside the IMG code box.

Hold your left mouse button down and drag across highlighting the info in the box. When the info in the box is all highlighted let off the left mouse button.

With the cursor still in the box and the info highlighted right click your mouse. Left click copy.

It will look like this. ( Note, the photobucket site makes this step easier just left click on the IMG location and it will automatically copy it.

Go back to the reply post on the forum, right click in the reply box and hit paste.

It will look like this

It should look like this when done.

Hit preview post to make sure it works, and that you didn't accidently post nekkid pictures of your wife.

Hit submit reply

Done

Duntov,

On some of your previous tutorials, you instructed on the use of "Tiny Pics". That is what I have been using for the past year. Is there an advatage to using Phot Bucket versus Tiny Pics?

Thanks for your continued instruction - it comes up often.

Duntov,
How do you post multiple pictures. Above is my first attempt to post 2 pictures with one coming out oversized.

Photobucket gives you a nice album format that you can keep your pics in for future use. You can keep seperate albums for different pics and make them public or private. Mainlly it will just be easier for most because it will resize your pics for you. That is the number one question I get in PM's.

Try it, it's free.

Click the RED ARROW and it will drop down 5 or six more slots. They will all be saved in your album. Just copy and paste the same info for each pic.

Note: It will only auto-resize photos to be smaller. It will not make a small pic bigger.

Duntov,
Both pictures were already in my album. What I did was cut and paste both of them and the second always comes out larger when I practice posting the pictures. By the way thanks for your help from this non-computer person.

Rick,

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying. Looking at their properties those pics you posted above are two different sizes to begin with. The top one looks like it was resized to 800X600 by photobucket. The second is avatar sized. If you upload a small pic to photobucket it will not make it bigger.

Bob

800X600 is about perfect size for posts on the forum.

Duntov,
It must have been the one picture that I was using had been downsized in my Photobucket album. I also took the second pic down to a new paragraph area.
Thanks again,
Rick

What are you complaining about? You got all winter.

It's not like it's two weeks long.

Default Now for a short thumbnails tutorial?

Duntov, would be great if you could give a quick lesson on posting the thumbnail photos that you can see fullsize by clicking . . .

Hey, it's Christmas, and that's what I want for Christmas . . .

Can't help with that one. You have to be a supporting member here to get that upgrade. Maybe Santa will bring you some CF supporting member stars for Christmas if you were good this year.

joec You're right that image resizer for XP does work great been using it for a while now.

Mike'sincorrect66 Nice car as well as the rest of the cars. trophyblues emblem shot is

Well, that is a great help, believe it or not. Seems as if I remember reading that once upon a time when I was delving into the differences in membership levels, but that was a while back. I think next year may be the year I convert my membership to supporting member status!!

Thanks Again,

Ron
