Removing headlight - how to mount covers to hood?
I'm pulling the headlights out of my '94, and I need some way to mount the flat headlight cover to the hood once the rotating assembly is gone. The hood has no damage, so I don't want to fiberglass them in and have to have the hood painted. I just want a bracket to bolt them in place.
Anyone done this?

Dzus fasteners work great and you can use a fairly thin clip/bracket.

The head light cover has a relatively slim bracket it glues to. you'll have to fab something up to go between those holes and the headlight motor frame mounts.
Or leave one motor in and make it your selectable ram-air induction and/or brake cooling ducts.

I'd simply bond a couple of strips to the inside of the opening with epoxy, and then epoxy the cover to the strips. All you have to do is carefully grind off the epoxy when you want to put it back to stock.

Seems that if the headlight cover has tabs and the hood has the old headlight motor threaded holes then it would be very easy to fabricate some brackets. Cut a couple of lengths of tin angle brackets to mount to the headlight covers that span beyond the headlight opening. Then attach some flat stock to the old headlight motor bracket holes. Where these pieces intersect is where I would rivet them together. Having the holes a little larger than the fasteners would provide the needed adjustment to center the headlight covers in the openings. Paint the brackets black and they would look pretty good.

I would like to sell them as a pair. How about $125 shipped for both.
They both work fine and at the same speed. The previous owner told me they were recently replaced, but they didn't look brand new to me. Last night I opened the LH one to check the condition of the bushings, and the bushings look brand new. I don't know for sure if they were completely rebuilt or just had the bushing replaced.

Hi ZBRA, I did that to my 87 racecar. I took the headlight door off the headlight bucket. I then took 1" aluminum strapping that I got at Lowes and bent them on a vise to the shape I wanted. I used the c-clips nuts and hardware that is already there to mount the doors. I oversized the holes in the aluminum so I could adjust the door fair with the hood. It looks good. I just took a couple of pictures of it and I can email them to you. Just pm me with your email address.

BTW have you seen what these guys have done to remove the stock lights.

BTW you can get a lightweight fiberglass hood, shell only Dzus fastners for about $600. You still need to fill in the headlight holes.

I am on the same quest that ZBRA is on. In the middle of the same project. Dont' want to steal the thread, but is there any way that either ZBRA or 98Red could forward those pictures. may save some fabrication time. Thanks in advance.
