Rear "Corvette" Emblem Placement
Can anyone please tell me the location of the holes for the rear emblem for a 1966. This is the "Corvette" "Sting Ray" emblem that is on the right rear deck area above the taillights. It seems that Bubba filled the holes when he did the body work. I just need a quick ballpark measurements. (From rear and left/right)
Thanks
Thanks

from the center line of the rear deck it's 13 1/4 inch to the left edge of the square part on the bottom of the emblem that says Stringray and from the lip of the rear deck to the left bottom egde it's 3 9/16"
Edit: This is off my 64, not sure if the same for a 66.

*** STILL NEED HELP ****
Rich was nice enough to respond with the measurements from his '64. After checking, I found out that the '64 emblem and location is different then my '66.
So, I still need someone to measure the location of the rear emblem on a '66 - '67.
Rich had the right idea on how to take the measurements.
Thanks Ken

I don't own a 66-67 so I am unable to provide measurements (I would if it would help) . . .

Using the same measurement scheme as above, my '67 emblem is 15-1/2" from centerline, and 5-3/4" from the rear edge.

I'll toss in another set of measurements for you. They are from my unhit [in that spot anyway ] '66 convertible.
From the upper left edge of the rectangular part at the bottom to the centerline is 15 9/16. Left side is 5 5/8 and the right side is 5 3/8.

Being that I now have two measurements that are a little different, one more example will point me in the right area.
Anyone?

My convertible has a factory luggage rack installed on the back and the bottom right corner of the rack butts up against the top corner of the lettering on the emblem. I would be glad to send you a digital picture if you would like. Send me an e-mail if you want a pic.
I'm just curious about that luggage rack. I have seen only a few and thought they were aftermarket, however if there was a factory option any idea where I might find one or a reproduction?
Thanks

Make a template
Place on car in right position and drill , a little painter tape put on first will keep scratches and drill dancing /slipping to a minimum.
you will need to remove the exhaust panel or muffler to get your socket up to the post with a speed nut or real small hands
or you can use a little weatherstrip adhesive to glue it on. It wont blow off.

When I replaced my gas tank, I had no problem seeing the filler material from below. I just drilled up (SLOWLY and with tape to help protect the paint) through the filler, then tweaked from above so the emblem prongs would fit.
My 66 also has provisions for some kind of luggage rack, mounting through two holes in the fiberglass just behind where the decklid opens and a post on each rear bumper near the inboard end. The rack is long gone, according to the previous owner. He thought he still had it, but couldn't find it anywhere.
