New ECS STS TT setup shakedown
Decided to convert my blue car over to the STS kit in order to get used to running a turbo car for next year. My setup is a forged 402 with the turbo400 tranny. Well in just one week's time Doug & the ECS boys pulled the Novi2000 setup off and on went the twin turbo kit as modified by ECS with T60s, a change to the intercooler and a turbo cam. Since there was a pro-10.0 at Etown we decided to take her to the track despite not having much time to get much tuning done (I pestered Doug until he relented).
First qualifying past was literally my first time ever with a turbo car. Launched off the footbrake and hit a 1.665 60' - a bit slower than the supercharger car but to be expected and first time. Then about the 330' line the car just blew the tires off the track and I had to peddle it twice to get down the track - the final 400' was very fun though. I was at 85.64MPH at the 1/8th and 122.73 at the 1/4 with an ET of 11.538.
The first round of eliminations I was up against Chris Young of Insanity Racing - great driver and a quick C4 with a solid axle setup from Neverlift. I decided to try the transbrake and as soon as we both staged I hit the brake and the gas. Well the 60' was a bit slower 1.719 but I came out of the hole with a .068 reaction time!! Chris made my hole shop up quickly and I was behind and had to peddle again just before mid track but then stood on it and the car took off. My 1/8 was 6.787 @ 110.34 and my 1/4 was 10.380 @ 136.47. I beat Chris by .04 thanks to the hole shot and the power of the turbos coming on at the top of the track. Completely opposite the charger car that comes out of the hole hard and flattens out at the top. We have the shift light set at 6,000 RPMS until we have more time to tune the setup.
Thanks again to Doug and ECS for the turn around and also to Silas who has the bigger badder version of this with his 427 C5R.
Also, a big to Chris Young who is a great racer and a gentleman.
There is a lot more to this setup and some more good air racing left to the season.

Not too bad at all...first day with your setup at the track. Reminds me of when Nick hit the strip with his car the first day out. Its good to see how well the ECS STS kit works at the track...a little more time and tuning, you will be in the 9s.
Congrats.

I really loved my supercharger setup as it was the setup that enabled me to gain my competition license. The Novi2000 and a 3" pulley combined with the ECS pulley/tensioner system is the one that got me there and was very reliable.
I just want to get used to turbos as my green car will have a big one so I will be moving far to the dark side.
They also build great head and cam packages, nos setups and big cube motors.
They really should be called ECPower.

Doug is out road racing with Wicked Weasel. I'm sure he will post on the tubo setup when he is back.
We have a pro-8 on November 4th. So we'll see what she can do then with the shift light to a higher rpm and some more tuning. It's in the morning so maybe the track will heat up as we get into eliminations.
The other night there were a lots of street cars plus a big corvette challenge field along with motorcycles. The competition round didn't start until well after dark and the track was pretty tricky to get down.

A little over 650 RWHP/RWTQ - Doug only took it up to 6,000 rpms and decided to change the springs as he noticed a little flutter. After testing them when they were out - a good thing. Doug put the car back together and we took it for a street drive at WOT in the passenger seat. He made some rough program adjustments but no where close to where we wanted it and then loaded up to go to the track. Hence the shift light at 6K. Also, This is through a turbo400 tranny and 28" tall tires. It will be over 700 for sure but I've decided not to go to the "edge" and will begin putting it back to more of a street car than it is now.
