Default Any pictures of 63-67's w/ 17 or 18" wheels

Does anyone have pictures of any 63-67 vettes with 17 or 18" wheel and tire combos? I'm building a 64 coupe and plan to put some on and would like any input as to how wide I can go without rubbing, with and without 2" offset trailing arms in the back. I'm planning to use the VBP monospring front and rear kit but would like any input withand without this kit. Pictures would be great if anyone has some!! Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,

When I bought my 65 it and normal trailing arms and it had 17X9.5 ZR1 rims with 2" adapters. The back spacing on the rims are 7". So that would be a net 5" backspacing. But each car is a little different, if you do a search as stated above others range from 4.25 to 5 backspacing. Now with the offset trail-arms mine appears to be 5.5 limited by the frame but I have not recieved the rims yet to see if there's just a little bit more room. Again you car can be different. Now if you go with 15" or 16" rims the might hit on the swaybar or spring.

Jeff,

When you click on " Search this Forum " the box will open and at the bottom of the box it will say "Click for Advanced Search" click on it.
In the next box type in the "Search by Key Word" what you are looking for. In the case I would type "Wheels" or "Backspacing" or "Rim Width". At the bottom of the box make sure the "Search in Current/ Archives"
that both boxes are check. It will search farther back in time. Then at the bottom right side that you highlight the "C1 & C2 Corvettes" is highlighted if you are wanting info on a c2.
Just a couple of tips.
I would watch the c3 performance info also, it looks like you are building your vette similar to me and they have alot of good info we can use. If fact I used c3 front spindles and bearing (good upgrade but need to change steering arms also), c3 rear spindle hubs (beefer and are interchangeable).

Hey Mecom Racer, could please stop posting that picture, every time I see that set of wheels and tires I can't think straight the rest of the day.

Not the prettiest pix but they give some idea of fitment:

http://homepage.mac.com/macdarren/PhotoAlbum14.html

Click images for close up view

these are TT2s 17x7 in front 17x8 in the back
Backspace is 4.5 front, 5.5 rear
Offset arms, shortend spring no rear sway bar.
Car is lower with the main body crease as the measureing point
height is listed on the web page.

Tires are 225/50 front 255/45 rear 10.5 section width rear, stock body
I think this is about the limit before things start to rub.

The pic of my '65 has 18x7's 4.5 backspace.
I will try and post a better pic.
I would perfer 8's but then there is too much interferance on the fronts at full lock steering. I want all 4 wheels to match. Bfg kdw's, mono leaf front, solid bushings and urethane everywhere, Howe long stud upper ball joints, tubular adjustable upper control arms, Bilstiens, Camaro front spoiler, it handle's great.

Thanks Tim, I really like the TTII's but I'm still debating whether or not to paint the spokes grey
