Default What tire do you perfer on a mid year?

I can't make up my mind about what kind of sidewall tire I want to install on my '64 convertible and it is getting close to time to order my wheels and tires.

I intend to go with TTD wheels...

Let me know what you think.

You can get white walls, wide whites, redlines, goldlines, bluelines, etc. from these folks. They are the best repro tires out there with many happy customers on here including yours truly (redline Firestone Indy 500s on my black 65 coupe):

Yes, but don't buy them from Coker - theirs are ORANGE instead of gold, and they refuse to acknowledge it or correct it.

We run FireHawk 225/60/15 blackwalls on 7"-wide 30-spoke Western "Turbine Wheels" with 3-3/4" backspacing on our '64.

Only rub is on a locked left turn where the left front tire rubs the steering carrage bolt, but does no harm. We could get 235s on and have had them in the past.

Redlines on 67s and red cars, black on black cars, or ones with red interiors.

Goldlines on 65-66 and cars with saddle or tan interiors and/or tops.

Thin line Whitewalls on 63-64s.

Default GoodYear Regatta 2 White Wall/Tire Pressure?

What is the correct tire pressure for my Goodyears for the 65 Stingray Coup? The tire reads 44 max pressure and the original 65 Instruction sheet in glove box says 22lbs(obviously the original sized tires from that year)

44 is the maximum rating your tire can handle and has no bearing on the correct, comfortable pressure to be used.

I use 32 lbs in all of my older cars with radial tires.

Pirelli P4000, 225/65x15 on ~0 offset 15x7 wheels... Best combo, both performance (Z/W speed rated) and appearance (fill the fenders nicely without looking squeezed in) wise that I have ever had on the car...

I wonder if the OP will chime in and tell us what he ended up doing. The thread is 4 years old.
