Default Want to IPOD your Z?

After much searching and thanks to Mike Mercury's posts, I have found an Auxilliary Input Converter for an 06 Z06. It hasn't even arrived yet, its due in tomorrow, but it will cure the problems associated with the older generation converter. It is Neucleus NC-X2i 2000-2006 GM-to-iPod® Interface w/Auxiliary Input and I found it at Logjam Electronics. Finally I will be able to use the 30 gigs of music I have installed on my IPOD.
Cheers,

Randy Goss

Hey Randy, Please take pics of the install.

Also, have you made any passes with the C6Z and how you like the clutch and axle shafts?

I've been waiting for LogJam to receive the updated version of the Neucleus, to fix the Nav/XM issues. The manufacturer said the fix was available about a month ago or so, but that no retailers were carrying the updated version. That included LogJam.

Do they have the updated model?

355spider did an install you might ask him. I think its kind of pricey though. Why didn't GM just make an input stock. Saturns have it, why not z's?

My cynical side: GM bean counters, The average age of a vette buyer is 50 something, they don't own iPods so we can save a nickel a car by not putting it in the vette.

Some specific questions:
  1. What's your car stereo - Basic, Bose, or NAV?
  2. What "input" (e.g., XM1, CD, etc.) do you select to accept input from the iPod?
  3. Are any inputs disabled/replaced by the iPod?
  4. The LogJam web page says that only Manual Mode is available. In this mode, you can track up/down using the standard stereo seek buttons, but can't do anything else (playlist selection, etc.) Can you confirm what functions are available through the stereo?
  5. What, if anything, is displayed on the radio when listening to the iPod? Do you get any playlist, artist, album, or track info?

I did a system upgrade from my NAV head unit back, keeping only the factory amp. I used the Rockford Fosgate 360 audio processor to integrate my new speakers and amps, my tech said it was IPOD ready, so I took it back to him last week and he ran the jack line to the center console and BAM! Works great.

I have the Bose, no Nav.
It will have at the least the receiver for the IPOD
It goes through the Aux button I am told.
I haven't got it yet, so I will let you all know after it is installed.
It is supposed to cure the problems that earlier models have.
It is the only one for the Z at this time, to my knowledge.

Ranger,
I have only been on a road course with it so far. The heat is so bad that I don't want to waste my time. I know the times won't be optimal until the weather improves. I still have the stock clutch and shafts, but I have some clunking in my rear end when its cold. Sure, on the pics. Car Toys is going to do it.

I went to three big name stereo places and then did searches on the web. Nobody else had anything and I just happened to get lucky with this one. He is expecting a shipment tomorrow and I will get one of those. It will work for any component I guess, but its made for the IPOD. You can call them, they were very helpful..

Yes, and I thought I gave credit in my post. I mentioned Mike because he had the most information that was helpful.
