[Event] Fall Skyline 10/28/06
This year's fall Skyline Drive Cruise will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2006; rain or shine. We will meet at the Jack Evans Chevy used car lot on Commerce Ave. in Front Royal and registration will begin at 8:30 AM. Directions are here:HERE. As in the past, the cruise will benefit the local chapter of Toys for Tots. Registration fee will be $10.00 per car or a new, un-wrapped toy per car. (No stuffed animals please.) Pre-registration is $8.00 per car, non-refundable. Preregistration checks should be made out to "Toys for Tots" and can be mailed to:
Jim Strathearn
PO Box 332
Shrewsbury, PA 17361
Preregistration deadline is Saturday, October 21, 2006.
We have a block of 20 rooms at the Quality Inn again. The price is $68.50 for two people. There is another large event in town that weekend and the Quality Inn is filling up quickly so call soon if you want a room. Their number is 540-635-3161 and the group name is "Corvette Club". The cut-off date for the block is Saturday, September 30, 2006. We usually book more then the blocked 20 rooms so call soon if you think you'll want a room.
We haven't done our scouting run yet so the route isn't nailed down but we will be ending the cruise at Brookside again. That worked out pretty well this spring so we've decided to do it again. We'll try to get to Brookside around 2:00 PM so we can be on our way home after 3:00 PM. We'll also have our usual police escort through town.
Special thanks to Val and the rest of the Shenandoah Valley Corvette Club for doing all the leg work for these cruises. The permit fee is scheduled to double this year and they are going to make sure that it gets taken care of. Val will chime in fill us in on anything I've missed...
The last two fall cruises we had 150 Corvettes each cruise. This spring we had 125! Hope to see you there!
Pre-registration list. If you sent in your preregistration and your name is not on thislist, contact me immediately.

Already counting the days. We've already got 4 coming. We're leaving in the a.m. on Friday the 27th, anybody else want to caravan with us? Really a great get together, and for a great cause too.
See you there!!

We are planning another Friday night get together at the Quality Inn. We don't have all the plans ironed out yet, but at the least, we'll have sodas (BYOB) and finger food. We had a really great time last event meeting everyone and hope you will join us. If the rooms at QI get filled, please email me and I can let you know what other motels are close by. Winchester is about 15 minutes away, and there are numerous places to stay there.
The countdown is on!

We went to the spring Skyline Drive and had a great time except that we arrived there too late (about 5 minutes before the cars pulled out) so we didn't get a chance to see all the cars and talk to their owners.
How does the fall Skyline Drive compare to the spring. Are there even more participants? I would think the drive will even more spectacular with all the leaves changing colors.

Fall is even better due to the changing seasons, colors of the leaves, more participants, and exclusive Corvette attendance (vs. other GM cars)

Sorry to say that someone else willhave to be the "bear bait" this time around. That is the same weekend that the NCM is hosting a High Performance Driving Event at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC. I will be doing my highspeed runs on a ractrack with NO PARK RANGERS!!! No oncoming traffic. I do hope you find a suitable replacement for me. In case you need a reminder of what I speak...
