Default ***Grond ain't got *%#! on THIS!!*** THE BEGINNING

I, like many of you, really enjoy Stephen's mod threads watching the destruction and rebuilding of Grond. Now that I have some fairly large projects (to me) in the works, I figured I'd share with everyone

First project: Tigershark Front Bumper Install

The bumper courtesy of 21st Century Muscle Cars

First get the front of the car securely in the air. I chose to use my rhino ramps.

Tecstar's instructions said there would be two screws under here holding the facia to the absorber... so I removed the plate cover. All I found was lots of stow away bugs... then I read the fine print "may not be on all vehicles"

You then remove all 3 air dams, the two access panes, and all the screws and push pins holding the facia on... it's very straight forward. I found another place where tecstar's instructions were wrong... you don't have to take the headlights out. You can access the two nuts that hold the facia to the fender bracket from below through the access panel. So I removed the headlight covers for nothing, but no biggie.

If you aren't bleeding your aren't trying hard enough. I stabbed myself w/ a screw driver while removing the push pins along the top of the facia.

All the parts laid out... still need to remove the wiring harness from the facia and the signal lights. Make sure you label your parts and put all the screws etc in ziplock bags.

Now for the best part... the test fit! This thing fits better than the OEM facia.. GB vette was right when he told me. With my OEM facia it never lined up on the wheel well where the bumper went to the fender... the bumper was always about 1/3" or so forward if that makes any sense. The TS facia fits in this area perfectly.

This is all for now... I'm tired, but I'm happy that everything went smoothly except for the screw driver stabbing incident. Next up is taking the oem facia and new facia to the paint shop.

I'll update as I progress

Thanks... I'll keep it updated. I have two sub-projects to be done w/ the facia off. First will be installing and wireing PIAA fogs to the car and second will be ditching the AIR system!!! I'll keep everyone updated.

Great post. BTW, are you sure you weren't trying to do a homemade tatoo with the screwdriver. The wound pattern looks like a "Z". Hmmmm.

Well there's a metal reinforcement under the headlight opening area. I still have to drill this out of the oem facia and rivet it to the new one. After I do this I can take it to paint. I've allready called Jeff @ Dreamworks Customs and he's ready for me whenever. I'm going to take him the oem facia and the new one and tell him call me when it matches

Thanks for this thread.. I have a T/S sitting in my formal living room and I have been contemplating installing it myself.
It looks like I'll be doin the project as soon as I get my car back.
On a side note. Is there any way you can get a clear picture of the cross brace that goes in between the frame rails?? I'm gonna be doing some modifications to it in order to facilitate a larger I/C for my supercharger, and I want to see what I'm dealing with.

Thx,

Jeff

I have a better idea... drive your 1000hp monster to my house and you can check it out yourself while I cruise the beach in the orange machine

Sure I'll take more pics tonight.
