Whats Your View On Battery Performance?
I posted a thread a year ago when the AC Delcos were getting bad press for leaks. At that time the favorite replacement battery was the Optima Red Top but its had a lot of reported problems recently
I'm interested to see the latest views on the Forum and whether they've changed.
This may not be very scientific but its a good indicator.
Post your views on why you made your choice and whether the AC Delco let you down. Its multiple choice so there may be two cases that fit you. Vote on your Vette battery.
In my case the AC Delco in the Vette died after 8k miles. Just dead.
The AC Delco in the Camaro lasted well but then leaked. Luckily I caught it before the acid got to the car.
My Optimas have been great even in the harsh Vegas climate.

...everytime someone replies to a battery discussion, it's a poll. This will make it easier to discern the outcome...my OPTIMA batteries have operated well in AZ climates since '95.

Flawed poll...
I answered about my ACdelco that had lasted for nearly five years. but,
I have a red top in two cars and had no probs with one. but the other battery was in a car that was not being driven, therfore; I had allowed it to drain out several times before it failed. it was replaced under warranty for free.

The different useage could be the problem with the varied views we see on these battery threads.

Within 2 months of the original warranty of my Optima Red top, it was dead as a door nail. Since it was within the 3 yr replacement warranty, I got a new one with a new warranty for free. I give the company props for their replacement warranty but I expected better preformance.

Interesting first poll
My take on the votes from the Friday evening crowd over last years poll. Much better assessment of the AC Delco. Last time it got really bad results. There was a strong poll of AC Delcos that had caused damage. The Optima is much better than the recent bad press. Not as strong a showing from the Exide crowd as I would have thought.
Biggie Boy has yet to vote against the Optima though J/K
Interesting to see how the Saturday morning crowd vote

Bought my 2000 coupe last october. After reading about leaking batteries I checked the original Delco that was in the car and the positive post was leaking. I now have a Red Top in the car but will be watching it closely after the many posts about problems with them. So far no problems

My 04 coupe still has the origional Delco battery. I replaced the origional Delco battery in my 99 coupe after 5 years, just to prevent any problems. My 65 coupe has a 6 year old Delco battery that still performs well. The best Delco battery was the one in my 85 Oldsmobile, it lasted 10 years, 10 months.

No--it's certainly not .
As part of the "Anti Red Top Gang" I voted, but, I had to vote "I have another battery and it is working well." As you know, you don't have a catagory for 'Former Optima Owners who dumped their batteries due to problems, and now have another brand." Therefore, these unhappy former Optima owners cannot vote in your pole (or perhaps, voted as I did). So, unfortunately, we're not getting the full picture here. Nevertheless, your pole is still interesting. Good luck...BB
