Default Body Lift Guide

Are there any good publications on lifting the body on a C3? Looking for as much info as possible for the job this winter. Also wondering what is the lift capacity needed. I'm hoping that beefing up the roof trusses of my garage will be strong enough. I will probably sandwich the existing 2x4 with 2x6's.
Thanks,
Jeff

Look for the video by Noland Adams, available from most of the Corvette vendors. Also here in the archives and/or Corvettefaq.com there is a checklist (I believe the checklist also comes with the video if you buy a legit one). Figure out of your roof will hold approx ~1500-1800 lbs (C3 body weight, depending on how much of the interior you take out).

This will probably help. I recommend using a chain fall with some type of overhead frame instead of an engine lift. I used an engine lift and although we got it done, it was a lot more work than it should have been.

Good luck!

I used rubber. I placed a beam across the rafters in my garage. One end was supported by the wall and I used a 4x4 beam under the other.
