The Grond Chronicles : Reincarnation Part 2 [Dialup; Eternal Ennui]
Part 1 of The Grond Chronicles : The Reincarnation, dealt with stripping the body panels and removing the entire drivetrain and engine. Details are here
Part 2 (that you are reading now) will be documenting the complete engine teardown.
Parts 3, 4, 5, 6 etc. I will reveal as time goes on. This project will stretch for several months, therefore pull up a chair and get comfy.
So without further ado, here are the pics.
EG
Let's start with my ATI "supercharger" crank pulley (stock diameter). It is only 3 months old and used for less than 1000 miles.
It sell new for $500. It is up for sale so PM me if interested.
Own a piece of Grond today !
Folded up the engine hoist; will not be needing it for several months.
Mounted the blown engine on the engine stand.
2 Melted pistons....
This is your crank reluctor wheel sensor (left) and engine oil level sensor (lower)

It's OFFICIAL : Grond's Number 7 Piston is being auctioned off!! I have permission from the Corvette Forum Administrators to auction off one of my melted pistons on the Forum.
All proceeds will go to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
Please help the sick kids if you can. Thanks.

Started the teardown; let's start with the "batwing" 2 part oil pan
Looks good so far. All of that cast flashing will be removed when I build the LS2
This does not bode well....

Lots of debris - as expected
Next, the windage tray
Crank looks good on first blush
This is your crankshaft reluctor wheel
That's it for tonight. I will do some more of the teardown tomorrow night.

This is very cool to watch
I wanna take a moment to thank you for doing this.it really helps recognizing some of the parts( such a reluctor wheel) that I had no clue what it looked like.
It is very interesting and I will be watching closely

Word History: Were they alive today, users of Classical Latin might be surprised to find that centuries later a phrase of theirs still survives, although as a single word. The phrase mihi in odi est (literally translated as “to me in a condition of dislike or hatred is”), meaning “I hate or dislike,” gave rise to the Vulgar Latin verb *inodire, “to make odious,” the source of the Old French verb ennuyer or anoier, “to annoy, bore.” This was borrowed into English by around 1275 as anoien, our annoy. From the Old French verb a noun meaning “worry, boredom” was derived, which became ennui in modern French. This noun, with the sense “boredom,” was borrowed into English in the 18th century, perhaps filling a need in polite, cultivated society.

Why are you bothering to tear it down further now that you're down to the shortblock?

Any idea yet what that washer is from?
