Default Who will win?

Ok my neighbor is calling me out in his 06 Z06 vette saying he will beat me up at the 8th mile track next week. What my secret weapon is my 1998 Mn6 C5 coupe track car:Perfomance:Vararam/ Borla Stingers/Tpis headers X-Pipe/3.73 Gears/MTI Stealth II Camshaft/ Forged Ls1 Internals 8.5:1 / Cartek 3X heads/Fast intake/ATI Procharger 10lbs/Stage 3 clutch/ Ls1 edit tune. my best 8th mile time is 6.56 @ 108.3with 1.72 60' on full slicks. I dont know how fast the new Z06's run but he is trying to make me a bet (probbly money involved) he will run faster. Think i will smoke his ***? All the mods he has are headers..And he will be on drag radials.. I might do a pully change too up the boost but i might not have too?

Why not do the 1/4 mile? You may not have a quarter mile track that is near you. To me the 1/8 mile is more of a traction contest. I still think you have the upper hand.. The c6 Z06 runs a 11.7@125 in the 1/4 mile, thats bone stock. With drag radials and headers he may be capable of low elevens. Who knows about the 1/8 th mile.. Usually its whoever gets the holeshot wins. Not much room for driver error or poor track conditions

Yea the closest 1/4 mile track is 100 miles away and i do run low 10's on the 1/4 mile and i dont have any traction problems up at the 1/8th mile track. So if he will only run low 11's then i should have no problem, Just might do a pulley change and run her up to 12-15 lbs. might break into 9's then. just gonna have too see.

It appears that you know your car and its capability very well. You have documented proof of it's and your performance. Just because your friend has a new C6 Z06 doesnt mean he can capitalize on its advertised potential....My money is on you...

If he is a friend! And a good neighbor, then hand him his humble pie for free. lol. If he gets a little cocky, then take his $50.00 and buy yourself a tank of gas. You got the goods and experience to hurt his feelings. He is just, loving , and proud of his new car. like the rest of us. That should cut him a little slack. lol. He can even run and then you can pull a couple of time slips, just to ease his mind and not hurt his feelings.

The funny thing is he is a a$$hole of a neighbor. Real cocky. Thanks now he has the fastest car in town and is bragging ect and he called me out the other day talking smack.. LOL well will update this soon on what his reaction is when he is looking at my tail lights. The 06 Z is a bad *** car but its all stock other than headers.. If he had a supercharger or turbo on it then i would watch out.. But dont think thats gonna happen real soon tho. This dude now reminds me of the RICERS around the city that say i got a 1.8l with 25lbs boostt and NOS..lol and they blow there engines up then blame it on a missed shift..lol i would know a guy did it last week at the track..LOL.. didin't sound like no missed shift

You will have no problem handing him his a$$. I hate guys like that. Embarrass him, take his money, and make him eat crow! There's a guy next to me with a silver C6 Z06 that is constantly telling me that he would beat me buy a full second in the quarter. I think it would come down to the driver on who wins but definitely not by a second.

I'd turn up the boost for added insurance, get some drag radials and then proceed to take his money. He should be easy to manipulate into a sizeable bet if he's that cocky. Tell him if he's so sure of his car being so quick, then ask him to spot you two car lengths (you won't need them, but if he'll give them up, then you should take them).

With headers and a tune, the C6 Z06's can put down 500+ to the rear wheels. Your car should Easily make that much. They're lighter and have good gearing so it should be a decent race, if he can row the gears. They're Impressive cars, but definitely not unbeatable.

Please keep us posted, as I'd like to see how this turns out!

Thanks

Im sure youll take him. 6.56 in the 1/8 is mid 10s in the quarter. Unless he has a little sauce 150 shot or more, youll smoke him. If you multiply your 1/8 mile time by 1.57 youll get very close to the 1/4 mile time.
6.56*1.57= 10.299 call it 10.30 ..... thats movin
at best a stock 06 zo6 runs around 11.70 on street tire about 7.45 in 1/8th. Add slicks and maybe 11.20ish. Its gonna take a little juice to get the zo6 in to your time zone. Chances are he'll break something or waste the tires out the hole. I definitely have my $$$ on you. Just dont get nervous and youll have him by a few cars.

I'd take his money, and then after you smoke him ask him just how much he paid for that car, that monthly payment must suck, and it's not even the fastest car in the neighborhood!!! I hate tough guys!! It's always fun to knock them down to size!! Dan

I have BIG EARS on this thread!! !!!

You will win if you have traction. When we were at the cruise in at BG, a bunch of 06 Z06's were at the track. Best time they could muster up was in the low 12's for the 1/4 mile on street tires!! For 70K plus the "MARKET ADJUSTMENT FEE" my money is on YOU!!

Go rip his heart and wallet out!!

Good luck and let us know the out come!!

You will definitely send him home licking his wounds. There is no question and you don't have to change the pulley. I smoked one of those guys at the track and I have a stock LS1 engine w/ P1 procharger and headers, 3.42 rear. Like mentioned above, most of these 06 zo6's can't run any better than mid to low 12's, can't hook, or can't shift or all of the above. Provided you don't miss a shift, you'll spank him down. Enjoy!

Well changed the pulley today and retuned it with LS1 edit. Should be pushing 14-15lbs boost, car is hard to drive around town on street tired without lighting the tires up everytime i take off. Think of going back to 3:42's. But anyways yea gonna taunt the neighbor now with doing a nice burnout in front of his house..LOL.. If he is gonna be cocky so am i.. Thinking of going to the new rear mounted turbos so my ATI kit will be put up for sale soon. I will keep everyone updated on the race saterday..
