Default BFG 19 inch Drag Radials!

I just read in Hot Rod the road test of the Pontiac Solstice with the LS7 engine installed in it. They mention smoking the hell out of a pair of BFG 19 inch Drag Radials! Does this mean they are coming out with these? No info givin in the mag article. They mention no traction even with these tires in the forst three gears, ran a 10.99 at like 133. If anyone has more info on these please post it!
Thanks
Matt

Wow, that would be GREAT news if it's true though I doubt it is, might've had 18s but they just misprinted it maybe.

I know Mickey Thompson was supposed to come out with 18 inch DRs which would be good news as it is but even the 18 inch BFG DRs are a great alternative.
Damn, a 285 (or even 295) x 35 x 19 DR to fit on the stock rims would rock.

That would be nice, except I have already spent a small fortune getting my wheels and DR's for an 18" package.

It mentions this in more than one spot in the mag, and mentions the size 315-30-19 BFG Drag Radial twice. They were mounted on 19x11 CCW wheels.

I'd again ask if anyone can post comparative 60' and 330' run on their C6 M6/M12
(1) with stock tires and
(2) with drag radials

I've asked this several times and it seems no one has actually run both way as a measure of the impact DRs make on a C6 with stock tuning.

How high of a launch rpm will the LS2 clutch support?

Here is my story on a C6Z06, drag radials are worth about one tenth in the 60' and you keep that tenth in the 330'. That is a much smaller benefit than DRs gave on the C5.

Good points...without some programming/torque management reduction-elimination a drag radial will likely do only so much on an otherwise stock C6.
A lot of the quicker bolt on C6s seem to be cutting decent sixty foots (low 1.8s/high 1.7s) on stock runflats but I know these cars would have the capability to cut even better ones (on DRs or even still on runflats) if all of the power would simply be allowed to reach the tires better.

shurite44,

Always nice to read your times, but I seem to recall you're an A4/A6.

Perhaps I remember incorrectly.

That is very good news ....but again only to those that really need a DR at this point and want to keep the stock wheels, I am concerned about fitting a 315 on a 10 inch rim though.

I think Ranger was talking only about the manuals and the use of stock tires versus drag radials and clutch actuation etc....the autos are a slightly different animal when it comes to launch/torque management issues.

I can tell ya right now that drag radials won't make much difference at all on a properly launched bone stock A6, if anything they could even hurt your times.

I'm continuing to try to learn about my car by studying the results of other drivers. The LS7 clutch is proportionately much weaker that the ones on my LS6s. All the LS2/6/7 clutches are made by Luk. But the LS7 version is prone to glazing very quickly; not so the LS6. Not sure about the LS2; hence my question.

And of course there's TM to deal with. I'm finding that too much traction, gives more TM rather than less. A little wheel spin gives still less.

Finally, got to air down the stock run flats to 26-27. Make for a better launch and reduces the incidence of wheel hop, which threatens breakage of the right axle or CV joint.

Yeah I figured it would be something like that.

I wonder if the 18 inch M/T DRs are coming soon and what width they're coming in.
