Default BLOWNZO6 Car PC Install - Round 2

Well after installing Rob's computer and completing the Twin Turbo install on my car I have the motivation to resume work on my PC for the Z.

Started on the screen last night.

I have also custom painted one of my Precision Power A200 amps and the computer case for the car. I am going to continue to use the stock Bose system and speakers. The Soundgate adapter requires the use of speaker level inputs so the PC installation requires the use of an amp.

More to come. The rest of the components for the system will be by the weekend.

I'm sure doing it the second time around will be even cooler. You'll have it down after this. (trying to get thread back on topic.. )

Doing yours really has me geeked to do mine. It is so nice having so much media on tap. I am going to try to find a cheap CF card to take advantage of the slot on the board to store some thing and have quick removeable media.

I have a 1 GB usb key that I will probably use.. also here is that firewire drive I was telling you about:
http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10558

You can get them much cheaper than that at about any online store.. but they are nice and portable. I could use that for my media as well. Better than taking the computer inside if you want to add stuff to it. Lots of options. I have a few other things I am working on, I will keep you in the loop.

hey blownz06 are you aware that there are syncing programs out there? you get a wireless card and the program, set it up on your home pc and your car pc. when you pull into the driveway what ever is on your home pc drive (that has been designated to be synced) ill automatically update to your car. i dont have this set up yet but it's out there.

I have seen some of this stuff floating around. The problem is that when I get out of the car the car goes to standby.. I would have to sit in the car for it to sync, or have it sync when I got back in or something. I think it would be easier to just pull a small drive out and take it in. Once the thing is full it is not too often that I would have to add stuff to it, but you know what I mean.

If you come across something that is working for you, let me know.

Look in the last picture above.. it is already painted.

I have a graphic that basically says PrecisionPower A200 coming.

That Amp is an old A200.. probably 7-8 years old.. works great, but it was white with some funky graphics on it.

as far as the syncing. you can set the jumper on most start up controllers to have give the pc power for 5 minutes after the key has been pulled. you could also set up a switch so that you can toggle between normal shutdown of 45seconds (or wahtever you have it set at) or 5 minutes. I'll let you know if i ever set it up.

aslo...are you going to try out that fm solution?

I haven't decided yet. I really cannot get any solid opinion from anyone if it is worth messing with or not. I would just like a solid Yes or No... it is always.. "well it is ok but not like my radio"

Once I get it setup I will see.

Also .. what are you using for GPS software. I had Delorme Street Atlas which is great for a laptop, not so great for a car pc. I am torn between iGuidance and Streets and Trips.. any opinion either way?

Default A few more of the progress

Here are few more with the ABS sludge for filling the large gaps.

I will start filling and priming tonight.

This large monitor is going to be very nice... tight fit though.

Those amps looked like they werent even painted at first glance, looks good. I also like that someone finally posted a pic with the abs sludge. Ive only seen pics of tape holding the trim in place straight to the bondo filler. Cant wait to see the final product
