Default Pics of my '67 convertible with polished 17" TT II's

This car is my daily driver. I performed a body off restoration last summer/fall. I did all the work except exterior paint, recovering the leather seats, and setting up the rear gears. I recently installed a Keisler TKO-600.

This is my third set of wheels/tires for the car. I initially installed 15x6 Rally Wheels with 225/70 Radial T/A's. Next I went with 15x7 Rally Wheels with 245/60 rear and 235/60 front Radial T/A's.

I just got these wheels and tires on yesterday. 17x8 on the back and 17x7 on the front. Goodyear F1 GS-D3 all the way around with 225/50 on the front and 235/50 on the rear. Everything fits perfectly.

This 383 motor makes 375 rwhp with 2-1/2" rams horn exhaust manifolds. It is a ZZ383 shortblock with Dart Iron Eagle heads. I installed a 2-1/2" mandrel bent exhaust system with DynoMax Ultra Flo's.

Now if we could just get some warm weather so I can take the top down and really enjoy it.

Steve

Steve, that really looks great. You did a fine job on the restoration work. I am thinking about the same wheels, but wonder why you did not go with the same size all the way around? 17x7 ?? This winter I swapped my 327 for a crate 383 and love it.

Can I ask for a photo of the tires from the rear of the car?

I would love to see what the tread width looks like. A nice low shot would be great.

Thanks, Bill

Steve,

That's a sharp looking car. I like your most recent wheel/tire setup best.

That car has to feel pretty sluggish though compared to its' big brother.

We have to find a way to hook up this summer - either at some Vette show or event.

Steve; Congratulations on a great job. I love the clean lines of the roadster with a small block hood. It seems everyone has a big hood scoop from the 427 which in my opinion belongs on the drag strip. The wheels bring out just enough polish to off set the body. Stunning !!! jr

HouTex1964Vert: Thanks!

Brutal64: Actually I am thinking about running Centerlines with M/T 235/60x15 Drag Radials when I race the car. I have a set of 15x7's just sitting around.

gilmore1967: The reason for the 17x8 in the rear is to get a wider tire to fit within the confines of the wheel opening. Great looking pic of your engine compartment, BTW. And, of course, the car!

Seaside63: I will post one this afternoon.

James: Thanks! I agree about hooking up.

jrs 427: Thanks! I appreciate the comments.

I thought I was the only one that preferred the SB hood on '67s

Oh, and yes, I did forget to congratulate you on such a fine looking automobile !! It truly is beautiful.

Seaside63: Thanks! I hope the new pic I posted is what you were looking for.

Scott Marzahl: The carb is a Barry Grant Speed Demon 750 vacuum secondary. Bending hard lines is not my favorite thing to do but I like the results.

Default Nice Stance!!

Steve,
Now I have to go buy 17s...geeez! Man that looks good with those tires, so much for my vintage 15" TTs. Did you lower the front for that stance?

BTW, doesn't the Barry Grant sit a little bit lower than the Holley. I'm looking for all the hood clearance I can get.

Scott: Yes I lowered the front of the car. It took me 3 tries but I finally got it. The Barry Grant does not sit lower than the Holley but it does provide more clearance between the vents and the bottom of the air cleaner lid.

Panhead: Thanks!

Default Springs

Steve,
What springs did you end up using? I'm thinking some stock BB springs would be a decent spring to start with, they are not as stiff as the vette brakes 460# ones once you start taking a bit of coil out.
There are plenty of new Delco replacement springs available cheap too, I wouldn't have to cut up my stock progressive rate coils.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Default 16"

Absolutely beautiful!
However, IMHO 17" seem to overwhlem the car a bit (or it could be just the perspective of the pic). I've asked this before but why isn't anyone going with 16". It seems that it would offer a bit more sidewall, less wheel and I know that there are plenty of performance tires available.
That being said, if I can't see a pic of nice 16", I'm going with what you've got on!
Thanks

Scott: I am using a pair of Guldstrand SB slalom springs. I have no experience with the VB&P springs. Springs are such a crap shoot because what is acceptable to one guy won't be to another. Then when you factor in how long it takes and what a pain in the butt they are to install, you really want to make the right decision the first time. As I said earlier, I had to remove/install these springs 3 times before I was satisfied with the ride height. As an added bonus, the ride quality is pretty good. Good luck!

stoly: Thanks! 17's on a mid year seem to be an acquired taste. I had similar thoughts about 17's that you do until I saw a magazine article featuring Rich Lagasse's '67 convertible. I was stunned at how gorgeous every part of that car was and how incredible it looked with the 17's. I was converted instantly.

I am not a big fan of real short sidewalls but I must say that as time goes on I am getting more used to it. I went with 50 series tires to get more sidewall as opposed to the 45 or 40 series. There is someone in the C3 section with a silver C3 with 16" TT's that looks real good. You ought to check it out.

Steve
