Order is Restored! Dave Dowdell wins WCCC Event #5
Things returned to normal for the WCCC, with Dave Dowdell and his blue C4 winning his first race of the 2006 season. Congratulations, Dave, on earning another A & A Corvette Performance winner’s trophy!
Dave outran runner up Lloyd Miyashiro and his blue C5 in the final, with Dave running a 15.159 on a 15.15 dial to Lloyd’s 13.152 on a 13.14 dial. Dave prevailed with a .032 advantage at the tree.
Dave got to the final on a bye with his second round victory over Henry Mynatt in a double breakout.
Lloyd Miyashiro won the Cormier Chevrolet sponsored Runner-Up trophy over semi-finalist Gary Combs in another double breakout. Lloyd ran very close to his dials during eliminations, and had several good low .1xx packages. Congratulations, Lloyd.
In the first round, Dave Dowdell earned the Vapor Trail Vettes Closest to Dial trophy with a 15.197 run on a 15.15 dial. Rocky Zarillo took the LACR/NAPA Auto Parts sponsored Best Reaction Time with his .020 RT. Both trophies are awarded for performance in the first round of eliminations.
Congratulations to our first round winners Ron Posen, Henry Mynatt, and Mike Villenueve. Robert Piroumian was our fastest in eliminations, with an 11.469 ET at 121.01 mph in his black Z06.
The WCCC sends get well wishes to Jim Lane, temporarily out with a broken arm. See you soon!
We were pleased to meet Cynthia Carrington. We hope to see her out here with the C5 soon.
Thanks to all our sponsors including NAPA Auto Parts/Los Angeles County Raceway, Cormier Chevrolet, Perez Web Design, Opitima Batteries, Vapor Trail Vettes, and especially Andy and Melissa Green of A&A Corvette Performance
Thanks again to Bernie Longjohn and his crew for another well organized race day at our home track, LACR!

It was nice seeing everyone again.
My story.. My car broke just before the 3rd time trial All was good though since McRat was there to tow me home and he was happy he wasn't driving

Thanks for the nice write-up Chris & Gary.
Thanks for the congrats everyone.
On race day, I tried to double up, running both the WCCC bracket and the LACR Summit Series Sportsman class. I got to run the Summit Series first, and couldn't cut a light...lost first round to a 12.00 '68Mustang, I ran closer to my dial, but gave the round to my opponent the race at the light.
I had better luck in the WCCC bracket...
First round vs. C6/6 spd: 15.197 on a 15.15 dial, with a 1.979 60'.
Second round vs. C5/Z06: 15.170 on a 15.18 dial, with a 2.009 60'.
Semi-final rnd vs. nobody: 15.159 on a 15.15 dial, with a 1.981 60'...bye run into the Final...
Final vs. Lloyd in his '03 C5: 15.159 on 15.15 dial, with a 1.971 60'.
The '85/C4 was running pretty good...still really, really slow, but pretty good consistancy-wise Maybe if I didn't spend any money on my C5, I could afford to get do an engine for the C4. Just put a set of BFG drag radials on the C5 for my wife...now she is happy with the way it hooks....no wheel spin all day for her...but she lost first round
Not a brilliant day at the tree for me, but I'll take the win just the same.
Thanks to everyone that continues to support the West Coast Corvette Challenge...both sponsors and participants alike
Join us for the next race on Saturday, April 22nd at LACR.

I've got pictures to get out to our WCCC gallery, but work has been so busy, I just haven't gotten to them yet. Hopefully later this week.
Stay tuned!
