Default BLOWN REAR! Need Help Dealer Wont Fix! Says 05 & 06 have same Rears!

Okay, My Rear Blew in october but this is not about my car,
My Brother inlaw has a 05 Z51 6Speed & Lives in the Bay area of California.

He Has about 9000 miles on the car & He heard a Humming noise so he took the car into the Chevrolet dealer & Told them what he heard, They called him back & Said that the Rear End Caseing was cracked & not covered under warranty, He then told me & I Said that's bull!

The car was never raced or at a drag strip only street driving & They seen a 24yr pull in with a new vette & are trying to blame it on him!

I Told him to tell the service dept about the change in the 05 to 06 rear ends & to tell them that many many other people had problems with the rear ends blowning out,

What He needs to get is like a GM Bulletin About this problem
Is there one? or what he needs is proof that there is a Change in the 05 to 06 rears (Dealer Says Theres No Diffrence)

Please help Please Post what ever you know about this because we need the help.

So People Say That The Cause of this is because of the First Gear BLOCK OUT & It puts to much stress on the rear.

Try calling GM Customer Assistance.
I called them with a problem when buying my C6, they called the dealer.
Tell them the dealer won't honor the warrantee.

What a crock. Considering the whole story, do you really want that dealer working on the car once GM tells them they have to do it? Find another dealer.

Try the service department at sunnyvale chevrolet. They're good people. All service departments in the bay area are not alike....

Go to a different Dealership for service. I assume that there are no mods to the drive train such as different gears in the rear end or H&C. I there are Drive Train mods (and I don't mean cold air or exhaust), then it is a different story.

Did they say why it wasn't covered under warranty?

The car has a 36 month/36,000 mile warranty on it. What reason did they give him for this not being under warranty?

I'd find another dealer because it us covered. I would go to GM last because that could cause a delay.

I blew my rear too on the street. The c6 rear is not as strong as the c5. We changed mine to an 04 Z06 rear caseing (much stronger).

Who did the conversion? Do you race the car? Is it holding up? How much RWHP? Tires?? What needed to be changed?

It really shouldn't make a difference to the dealer if it's a warranty repair or not. They still get paid.

I work for a bay area dealer and we have replaced a couple of these already. One guy (a C/F member) came in with drag radials on the car and we still replaced it under warranty. PM me and I can get it taken care of for you. (Providing the information in your post is 100% correct) -RICH-
