That hasnt been my "first hand" experience. As well as many video's and reviews that i have seen. Just look at quarter mile trap speeds. I'm sorry but the viper is not a faster car, this has been admitted by friends of mine that OWN vipers.

The vipers generally dyno 430 stock with 470 torque and the vette is generally 450/430 or so.... pretty dang similar.
However the vids I've seen show the Vette walking away. They're both awesome.

I'm sorry, I can't resist;
Based on Ranger's recent awesome performance, two legit questions come to mind when I see a post like this;
1) how many bone stock Vipers on drag radials have run 11.20?
and especially;
2) how many bone stock Vipers on drag radials have made it into the 10s? (because most of us here are pretty sure Ranger WILL make the 10s stock and on drag radials)
I can't say for sure, but my guess is the answers to these questions are 1)very few if any, and 2) none.

I want to hear what is buddy says, theres always two opinions - if he has a new Z06 he must check into the forum onc in a while, STAND UP AND SHOUT, let us hear the other side.

I just dont understand why every single one of those guys are in total denial, and dont give the new z06 any credit. They talk like there cars are the best thing to every hit the road. No i dont think the new z06 is the god of all cars ever but yes it just so happens its my favorite car out right now, but if you cant respect a car for what it can do your an idiot. I dont like the way a viper v10 sounds at all, am i gonna talk that car down and no matter what say it sucks compared to a z06, no. Its still a bad *** car and has great potential. I guess i just am a true car guy and can respect a 10 second honda or a 10second mustang.

i happen to own a 05 viper and an c6z06,and im sorry but viper cant beat a vette,vette is so superior its not funny,big deal on tires,so what change them,ive put on drag/radials and car is a dream. ranger just ran a 11.20 stock on drag/radials,put a pair on stock viper and try that. so lets acknowledge the better car its the corvette.

Assuming that 70% of what the Viper guy said id true; I can’t imagine what kind of driver the ZO6 guy must be that the Viper could pass him in 3 laps at Spring Mountain?
Secondly, anyone that has been to Spring Mountain knows that; it is pass by “wave by” only and there are only 3 passing zones! That means all of the other traffic waved by the Viper so he could get to the “Z”. I smell something fish’eee in the desert!

Hasn't it been said (especially by magazine comparo's) that the Viper's handling feels a little more "stable" than the Z06's... and the Vette takes a bit more experience handling it to really show what it can do? Well if the Viper guy's friend just got his Z06, as he implies, do you really think he was able to push the vette to the limits?
I remember reading the Dec. comparo of Car & Driver with the Viper vs Z06 cover story. In that comparo, the writers said it took them the whole 2 (I think it was 2...) days of racing around in the Z06 to feel comfortable, whereas the Viper they felt fine in it from the first second they floored it. After they felt comfortable enough in the vette, though, they started pushing it and sure enough the vette's times started beating out the Viper's. Even after that the drivers said that they could have pushed the Z06 even more, but didn't feel comfortable with doing so at the time.
What Im saying is the Z06 owner in this story was probably going through what all Z06 owners are at first... we're inexperienced with this new car and need to get a feel for it before putting it through the paces.
I still like Vipers, they're very respectable and great cars no matter what anyone says. It's just the Z06, by all EVEN accounts, seems to have the upper hand on the Viper.

4) Gawk factor- very few people noticed his car- its black and does not stand out. We had literally dozens of people snapping photos of the Coupe. I have a Lamborghini Murcielago, and that is typical. But I did not expect that in a Viper. In fact, a group of young ladies ignored my friends Corvette,
