C6Z06 Bone Stock on Drag Radials 11.31 at 126.92
Made my inaugural passes in the C6 Z06 today at MIR in Southern Maryland. Air temperatures at race time were in the [mid-40s]; track surface temps were in the low 50s measured by my infrared laser temperature probe.
Traction was decent considering this was opening day and there wasn’t much track rubber lain down.
Here are the splits on my fifth and best pass:
60'........1.847
330'......4.930
660'......7.413 @ 99.80
1000'.....9.526
1320'...11.311 @ 126.92
DA at the time of that run was about negative 400 feet.
I have a lot of room for improvement on the 60’; need to figure out the clutch release and throttle squeeze, which are not the same as on my C5Z.
But today certainly confirmed to me that 10s are possible bone-stock on drag radials with a little better track conditions and more seat time to get the launch right.
As a point of reference my C5Z06 with 363 rwhp had a best 60’-1320’ incremental time of 9.85. Today my C6Z06 ran that incremental in 9.47, and that will improve in the coming 60 days, as will the 60’ time.
My oil temps remained around 120 at the line and the water temps were 216 or above. The best pass was at a water temp of about 195.
I ran 18 psi in the BFG 345.30.18 DRs; 40 psi in the stock fronts and made first pass with a quarter tank of fuel.
Appreciated the support and kind words of a fine group of CF members who made the trip to MIR to root for the home team. Wish I could have made the 11.31 while they were still observing. And I suspect Steve Row will post up with his eye-witness account.
Best to all,
Ranger

Nice time!
I know your 60' will get a lot better with more seat time, but I still think I'm safe on the bet!
Have you picked out a roll bar yet .. or are you just going to cage it ??

Safety Car
Nice run and mph.
I was in Bowling Green a several years ago when John Lingenfelter drove a naturally aspirated 427 C5 6 speed coupe he'd built for a friend of mine down the drag strip. That car was one of the very first 427s Lingenfelter had built using the C5R block. It was mildly cammed and made about 455 rwhp. It ran a 126 mph trap also. It was on 335 Mich. Pilot Sports and the et was about a 12.2. Thought I'd bring up the comparison whatever that's worth or not.

Yep, it's true! I took pictures of the launch and the result. I'll see about posting them.
The car squats and the front end lifts like the suspension is set up for drag racing. Great weight transfer. You can see the power, and the speed on the second half of the track is just incredible for a completely stock car.
With the right track conditions and some practice, I think we'll be seeing Ranger break the 11 second barrier.

Ranger = Awesome
For a bone stock car, this is incredible. I remember how hard it was for people to get into low 11's with all out mods 10 year ago. When the first LS1 came out and people are gushing over 13 second passes. It's amazing how far GM has come from the first LS1.

Mad props on your 11.3 stock time. You will kill an AMG E55 with all known mods except NOS. I want a Z06 badly.

I left before Ranger was able to get in his best time. I have the video of his 11.58 earlier in the day. I'll post them tomorrow. I have to go to my office to capture them on to my computer and upload them to my website.
