Default Magnaflow Exaust for under $300

Went to my local muffler man the other day and we ordered some Magnaflow mufflers. # 11236 offsets. Cut the OEM muffler Off. Cut the OEM tips off. Clamped on the new Mufflers, Welded the OEM tips back on and they are straight. Spray a little Flat Black paint on the New mufflers Just like the factory did the OEM's WALAA!!!
As far as sound they are close to Corsa Sports as near as I can tell. Great sound. Nice Rumble, Great Roar at WFO. Yet you can still whisper sweet nothings to the little lady while cruising.
And apsolutly no DRONE. A great sound for about the 1/5 of the price. And for SOTP I know that there is at least 12 more ponies in there nickering to get out... Any C6r's in the Ok City area give Doug a call @ Performance muffler in Norman..

Did you get a bone stock dyno before? Some have lost power with the MF mufflers. Glad you like them

No Dyno's done. These are not the same mufflers that come with the MF kit. If there is a loss in HP you sure can not tell it. It feels stronger on the bottom and up through the band....

It don't have to be Magnaflows. Use mufflers of your choice.
I just cant see paying $1000.00 for a three foot piece of bent 2 1/2
tubing.
I may find another mod I want to spend that on..

Find you a Corsa SportSound wave. And that's it. The only difference is the 11236's may be a little deeper. Just a little more muscle car sound maybe...Little deeper rumble...

Absolutely no drone! That sounds great. I'm just concerned about the horsepower loss if that's a fact. Maybe I could gain the hp back by adding an X-pipe with headers.

I do not think that there is any Hp loss. It feels stronger. even if there was a minamal loss, Which I am almost positive that there is not . Go get you an x pipe and . A dyno. And a tune . With the grand you saved.

I ordered a pair of the 14336 shipped to my door for 135 bucks. The local muffler shop is going to install them for 130 when they arrive. These are the same as the 11236, except polished stainless steel. I am glad you like them and have no drone issues. As far as the loss of hp, I guess we will see where the car ends up after I put on either a Halltech or maybe a Callaway CAI and get it tuned.

Performance Curve on the east coast. I saw them auctioning off a bunch of them on ebay and emailed them to ask if they would take a best offer. They had 100 of them listed at about 80 each and none had sold. Any way they said sure a pair shipped for 135. Their number is (540)343-1593, I am pretty sure they will sell you a pair for the same price.

The only difference in the 11236 and the 14336 is one is polished stainless, and the other is not. They are also the same price, so why didnt you go with the polished stainless?

They are not the same price, at least not on the magnaflow website. The 14336 are polished stainless steel and list for 152.05 each, these are the ones I bought. The 11236 are satin stainless steel and list for 114.09.

They are $80 bucks a piece online for the polished stainless. I dont know how much the regular stainless ones are but damn I cant imagine them getting much cheaper than that!

Drone is going to be the same for both, they are the same muffler.

Before I installed my complete magnaflow system I was going to do just the mufflers. Every muffler shop I went to said they would match that price as long as I had them do the install. They also warned me it wouldnt sound good and they couldnt guarantee the tips would line up right.

So what did I do, I paid the $1000.00 and the tips still dont line up right! Ha! I think it is an easy fix for a muffler shop though.

Good luck.

Like I said in my first post I paid $135 for the pair of polished stainless steel ones delivered to my door. My local shop has installed these on a number of vettes and in general everyone seems pleased. They say that they can get the tips lined up just right and that they will sound good as well. They did the dual exhaust on my 67 mustang and it turned out fine. I guess I will see next week, if I don't like it I am out $265, if I like it I have saved a nice bit of cash for other mods like a CAI and a Predator when it is available for the 2006 C6. Look for a follow up post later next week.

I am not trying to argue with you. My initial post wasnt questioning your decision. Basically you got the polished mufflers for much cheaper than the regular steel ones. I am just wondering why anyone would get the regular steel ones.

I am sure you have a wonderful installer and he will do a great job. I didnt mean to imply they would turn out crooked.

Very interesting. I believe this magnaflow mufflers with an X-pipe would amount to the same hp as a cat-back alone. Cat-Back for a C6 is around $800 or more. The entire magnaflow system (from the headers) for the C6 is $1,149.00 through Summit Racing. Part#14336 polished is $87.95 and part#11236 steel aluminized $65.95, Summit Racing. Definitely, some money could be saved. Now, magnaflow is claiming horspower. How much is unknown.
