Amazingly Good Mobile Paint Repair - pics!
One of the reasons I feel I got a good deal on a local vert involved the damage to the right front corner, the result of hitting a tire fragment on the freeway by one of the PO's. Or so the story goes...
One of the high line local used car dealers gave me the business card for a mobile paint repair service that they claimed did great touch ups for a reasonable cost. Little did I realize how good they would turn out to be!!
I got an estimate from a collision center where I've had work done before. They wanted $950 and one week to repair the damage. This included a rather large scrape, the chips and scratches on the front plate cover, and a long horizontal scratch in the clear coat below the plate cover.
Then I got the estimate from the mobile repair guy. He's been a body man for 10 years and his partner has been in automotive painting for 10 years. They use PPG urethane base and clear coats and will do the repair on site or at the high line dealership's garage. His estimate for the repair was $150 and he did the whole repair today, in about 5 hours. The repairs are guaranteed (in writing) for as long as I own the car. These guys are going to get a lot of my business. Of course, the real proof will be in how the paint holds up over time. But for now, I'm thrilled.
Just had to share this outstanding experience and post a few pics. First, the before and after, followed by a few glam shots.
I also got the former owner to sign off on the warranty transfer, and got the title from him while the car was being repaired.
It's been a good day!
