For The Blue Light People Only (pics)
If you don't like blue lights you can stop reading now there is about 20 new thread on price reduction or new colors to read
Member aliix changed his map and courtesy lights to blue (Thread Link) . IMO I love the stealthy look of the blue interior lights. So I followed and Installed PIAA blue LEDS in the mirror and under dash lights.
Problem is that the rear hatch lights were still that dull white color. Looking at the bulbs they were kind of unique and no one made blue bulbs. I decided to complete the look and modify the lamps to blue LEDs. If you can solder you can do this mod. It's 100% reversible once you unsolder the leads the stock bulb can be replaced.
I started by removing the lamp housing which pops right out and you simply unplug the power lead. The bulb is clipped on each side and removes easily
I purchased a set of Varad hyper blue LEDs.
I attached 2 LEDs per lamp and secured using the supplied 2 sided tape. You can bend the LEDs to shoot towards the lens.
Strip and solder the leads to the lamp tabs making sure to follow the polarity show since LEDs do not work if the polarity is switched.
Plug back the power and they worked
Camera is on the dash looking towards the rear hatch
A good side to this is if you left the interior lights on they LEDs draw so little current it would take weeks to go dead. They also have a life of 100,000 hours.

When I first saw a thread on blue lights I was kind of cool on the idea. But now I am warming to it....or am I "cooling" since the light is blue not blue...or am I....

Very bad business using blue lights inside, especially to illuminate dash and gauges. Blue uses up the visual purple in your eyes and can make you somewhat night blind. That is why in aircraft gauges are illuminated in red.
