There is a new "TPI" intake on the market, It's called the "FIRST".
Anyone know anything about this, and has anyone tryed it out.
It's made by First Injections, and it called First.
From what I was told tonight, Alot of 3rd gen guys have been using it with great gains.
Just wanted to bring it to the TPI guys attention.

Appears to be the real deal!

I remember that design from the early 90's
Car Craft ran a test of it and all the competitiors for that time

definitely a cool intake - even if it has been around for a while. The prices aren't bad when you compare it to an edlebrock setup or a superram deal.
I'd be interested in flow #s and dyno comparisons of the SuperRam, Edlebrock or AS&M large-tube setups, and even the Holly StealthRam. Didn't see ANY data on the website, which is surprising given how many of those things they've made....
That might be a fun intake for a DD/stroker depending on the flow #s.
EDIT: Nevermind - I found the HotRodder articles. Still no flow #s though.

They made that system back in the late 80's. It was a "complete" system, using their wiring harness, ECU, sensors, etc. They disappeared sometime in the 90's and then reappeared around 2002, but this time they sell it as just the induction pieces also.
I saw a power comparison between the First, miniram, S/R & Edelbrock's LT setup.... It spanked them all. According to the article their system has the low end grunt of a TPI and the upper RPM HP of the LT1 manifolds...but more of both.

that's probably not a bad price-next comes the heads and cam. But, I thought one of our members did a fairly good write up on his experience modifying his TPI-4-5 months ago? Seems like he experimented with different runner sizes with not any real improvements? or has my memory really went with the "Golden Years"?

I have started a 383 and am looking for new induction plumbing. The FIRST looks interesting but ,as has been noted, nowhere can you find any dyno comparison/testing. If I have missed something I would appreciate someone pointion me in the right direction.

In the first link above, german-motorsport posted these scans and there
are other remarks about test results.
I would recommend following the links to read the text that accompanies
the scans, as well as reading the remarks that other posters replied
with.
Also, BadSS and german-motorsport both indicate they have the first.
Why not search ThirdGen for subsequent posts by them or email
to ask how they feel about it today.
Be nice to know what the runner lengths are. The ports on the manifold
look like sewer pipes beside the OEM TPI ports. That the manifold
pulled reasonably well at the bottom end is due to the larger
displacement of the test engine, in my opinion. The full particulars
of the engine (cam, heads, exhaust & ect.) may have been posted
but I didn't look that closely. It probably has its place but I don't think
this is an item for a stockish 350.
