Default Broke another Pioneer Valve Spring on the 97'......

Just like the one I did last year(#6 exhaust), guess I will be replacing them all now at around 10K miles
This was the stock springs on the Cartek Stage 4 stroker heads in early 2003.......sure hope they have gone to something else
As I feared the sound was a broken valve spring..........
#5 exhaust as the pic show.
Got everything cleaned up today so now it's time to change the spring(s)
out!
The pics are attached.
Valve seems to be ok and spins freeley w/o any slop in the guide, just like the last one..May get to use my new boroscope now
Good thing I keep the rest of the PP Golds
Have a Safe New Year

I cant believe they set you up with stock springs on a big cubed motor like that!

PP Golds here...17k miles on them and counting!

Damn Steve!
Sorry to hear about it but it looks like there was no major issues with the motor. I love my 921s even with all the noise

I am headed up to see Jeff tomorrow and Cobra get tuned. Durka durka!!

Can you elaborate? This is likely the source of the failure, a stress riser like a knick will severely shorted the life of any highly stressed part like a valve spring.

Were these duals?

All is well,
Got the other PP gold springs on today.
The one valve guide had maybe 20% damage around the very top seal area but it will be fine
Other than a couple of skin nicks,broken 10mm socket & 1/4 to 3/8 adapter twisted off.........sounds good.
Took it for a drive in the neighborhood to get the oil temps up and parked for the night.
After a good washing tomorrow........time to go beat on it.
These are double springs, I did chalk up the 1st break to the damage.....but not this one!

Thanks for the offer Joe, but all is well
With the crane valve spring tool, 2 at a time is the deal for sure
