Default Check out my in car PC/DVD/Audio install (PICS).

I was inspired by Scott_FX

Nor sure what the deal is, maybe the flourescent lights, but the carpet match is not as off as it appears in these photos

Center Channel...Just thought it looked cool ..

what did you use to re-do the center console bezel? the texture and color looks perfectly factory. I am needing to do mine since I added the Avic-D1 navi.

The faceplate you constructed for the nav screen looks top quality. One of the nicest setups I have seen here.

Thanks guys.

I am accused of being a bit of a perfectionist, but to me its not quite perfect. Here is how I finished the modified bezel.

I sanded and filled the location where the piece was cut with ABS filler (ABS shavings and acetone), and bondo spot putty. Then I used SEM texture pray to throw a little texture back over the spots and sanded a little. I finished with dupicolor flat black vinyl and fabric paint.

I ran into problems with the painting. I wanted to keep the original texture, so I could not sand the whole piece. When I painted I got some crackle effect in a few spots I had not touched. These had to be sanded and repainted, I think due to contaminents in the plastic. I did repaint the entire peice to match.

I think I would recommend sending it off to get re-textured. I know SCOTT_FX sent his off and got it done for ~$65.00 or something from leather magic and it looks awsome.

Sweet, I wish one of our vendors would manufacture a modified center stack section for us less skilled folks. I'm afraid I'll be forced to see my Z and buy a C6 just for the ability to add an aftermarket NAV system.

Outstanding job.

GM could have had an awesome fit on the C6 if they'd looked here for inspiration.

I would seriously like a parts list on that setup. Can also laser cut a bezel. Textured ABS (I think that is what you have) and whatever mounting pads..

edit: Saw the parts list on MP3car forum. What is the approximate cost?

Lasershop,
I am into this for ~$2300.00, the audio stuff was $750 of it, power another $250, monitor $400. I definately could have saved some money on the PC if I shopped around, also a small low power unit may be more practical, time will tell.

I did this install with a dremel, drill, hand tools and no room to work . A laser cut bezel would be awsome. My lines are far from perfect and if you look at the back, its basically pieced together and epoxied.

With the right tools and a workshop, this would not have been a bad project. With what I had to work with, it was a bit of a pain, but still worth it.

Default Barter...

Tried to PM but you are full up. So Ill do it here.

Textured ABS we can get looks like wrinkle finish paint. Be happy to make you what you need if you are unsatisfied with the current bezel (looks great I think). Or we can make it out of any plastic. You just need to supply a good drawing with dims. I would trade that for a detailed list of parts (the cheaper way would be better, prices and where to obtain) and some instruction. I have Audiobahn amps already and a full compliment of kickers. Let me know if you are interested.
P.S. We cant laser cut metal at all. Don't have that kind of power. Either way, I really appreciate the craftsmanship.
Thanks, RonO
