Default C6Z06 vs SRT10 on the Dyno

The local Viper guys wanted to see what the Z could do with a Viper and Z pulling on the same Dyno under the same conditions. The results were:

1st pull:

Viper 428Rwhp 453 Rwtq
Z06 446Rwhp 418Rwtq

The Viper guy got out his laptop and the results were:

Viper 453Rwhp 460Rwtq
Z06 453Rwhp 431Rwtq

They were ready to declare a tie until the Dyno operator pointed out the the Viper was running a custom tune program.

Other cars:
My 04 Z16 put down 353Rwhp 353Rwtq
Celica Supra (running 37 ponds of boost and other goodies) 903Rwhp 1000Rwtq followed by a 904/1000 pull.

The Dyno was limited to 1000Lbs torque reading so that number is likely wrong. The Supra kept blowing off the waste gate I believe because it was C02 controlled and he couldn't hold enough pressure.

I had to leave before a heavily modded mustang and more runs by the supra.

If the Viper guys tell you that they get more attention than the Vette just call everyone was much more impressed with the sound, look and performance of the Z than with the Viper.

Pretty good numbers for both cars................!!

I'm sure this is just a "whoops" moment, but "Celica Supra?" You mean Toyota Supra, right? Unless there is a Celica with a complete drivetrain swap (I've heard of that happening in a couple of different Lexus cars, but never a Celica...)?

Heres the Viper guys quote:
Just got back from a dyno night at the local dyno. There was a new Z-06 with 2500 miles on it.

He dynoed corrected at 453 HP and 431 max torque (second run)

I ran imediately after him- my first run was strong 455 HP and 487 ft/lbs, my second run I shifted into 6th instead of 4th- I decided to run anyway but had to shut down at about 185

I imediately ran again and hit

453 HP and 496 max torque.

then a Supra put us both to shame with a 900 HP run- he tried to hit the spray but his computer shut him down.

Now I am ready to sart the install of my Paxton"

I tend to believe the higher torque number of the Viper, they all pull at least 460 stock. And 496 isnt uncommon. The Z06 is a little faster so its all good. We all want 500-600rwhp at least anyway.
The one dyno in the magazine (C&D?) this month had some adjustments for the cars aerodynamics and ****, whats up with that nonsense?

Wasn't the real name "Celica Supra?" It looked just like the Celica, but larger!

5mph seems like alot faster to me. Believe me the diff between 125 and 120 in the quarter is quite a spanking

There is no way that was an SRT dynoing 428hp and 453tq.

Right but nobody calls them Celica anymore.

By the way, the Viper guy's thread on the Viper board is let me just say, "WRONG".

I did two pulls with my Z16 first, then the Viper made his two pulls "BEFORE" I made any pulls with the C6Z. Of course the Vipers have to save face. He also didn't mention the custom tuning. When I left he was bragging about the Paxton he was putting on the Viper next month.

BTW-the Dyno sheets should be posted on www.etrackmasters.com soon. For those who want to call on me, go and look for yourself.

I'm out of this thread. I just posted what I saw and what I heard from the Dyno operator. My dyno sheet will be up by monday on:

Howdy!

IIRC, the MKI and MKII Supras were variants of the Celica (Celica Supra), then when the 3rd Gen Supra was released in '86-1/2, Toyota made it it's own model line (and the Celica continued in a different direction).

Hey guys. Don't believe this Viper guy. Just looked at his history. He had his Viper on the dyno last Dec. and his numbers were 408rwhp and 442rwt. He's clearly fabricating his story. Check out the link below. Case closed.

Interesting results. For a guy that tunes his own car (that is what it sounds like) he sure runs that thing on the safe side, must have leaned it out bigtime to save face. I wonder what the Z will gain when tuning becomes available?!?

That's because the Z sounds like a race car and the Viper sounds like a UPS truck.

You are right, the guy was modded...From Viperclub

"It was a dynojet- I have a K&N and a VEC-2

I was running with the "mild" program which lets me run a little richer earlier in the curve and leaner at higher rpm- its one of the demo programs Shawn ships with the VEC-2.

I thought it interesting that the 453HP numbers matched a recent MT (I think) article that post Dyno numbers. In that article the Z-06 put down 453 HP."
