Default Are strainers/socks included w/new fuel pumps

I've ordered up a new fuel pump strainer/sock
P/n 25121216 for an '89. After hearing the price
for the sock alone, I considered ordering a pump
but was told pumps are sold without the strainer.

Can someone who has purchased an L98 or the newer
LTx pump from GM confirm whether the strainer is
included or not.

It depends where you get them... GM dealers include them, parts houses don't.

When I got my first pump from Superior Chevy, it come with, but the AC Delco pump I got from AutoZone did NOT!

It seems that GM sells it as a kit, where the vendors sell them as parts. the strainers are about $5.00USC.

Uhm, ouch?

Local GM prices for a p/n 25121216 Strainer ($USF)
List: $64.85 || Trade Net: $48.65

GM Parts Direct
GM LIST: $35.33
OUR PRICE: $17.65

Sigh ...

Mine came with it (pep boys).

Why would you buy a part like that from GM? I'm sure its made in taiwan and has everything in common with the cheap ones except price.

Sir, I'd like to plead the 5th in response to that question.

Actually, the strainer is an ACDelco part. The box
has 'Made in the USA' on it, though it is not clear
whether this refers to the box or to the contents.
The strainer itself has no identifying marks.

You know, I try to support the General - I purchase
at trade from my dealer and this typically works to
my satisfaction. We do not have the AutoZone chain
but I'll checking with my friendly NAPA dealer on the
strainer.

On my l98 the fuel pump came without the fuel sock, it was an AC/Delco unit. The sock cost me $5.00. I purchased the parts from AC/Delco Direct good prices lightning fast shipping.

Made in usa refers to the box. Or to where the person was when they put the chinese part in the box.

AC-delco does not make their own parts, at least not all of em. I've bought ac-delco parts boxes at the dealership even... with foreign stamped parts in them.

I've visited www.acdelco.com but this site only
appears to help identify Delco p/n's and create
a list. I fail to see how to purchase. Perhaps my
settings are keeping their scripts from functioning ?

However, I did learn that my number 25121216
crosses to Delco P/N TS17. With this I visited Rock
Auto and found three listings. The Delco is $20 but
the Carter and the AirTex are $5.

Now, I wouldn't want the AirTex

But I fail to see any difference between the Carter
(left image) and the ACDelco (right image) I am holding in my hand.

I don't see a $15 difference. Buy the Carter. If it makes you feel any better they were/are an american company.

Default 1986 Corvette fuel pump/strainer

I agree completely about the Carter pump and separately purchased sock from rockauto. The Carter brand is USA, and have used their external pump in my El Camino, and it was the only one I never had to replace. The acdelco pumps look just like airtex that I've seen. Since my vette is a one owner, me, and it was just time to replace the pump since it was only registering 19 with the gauge, I used the Carter. But I too was concerned about the sock orientation since when I pulled the original pump the sock was bent.
I just now cleaned the tank and tray, not too dirty since I always run Exxon or BP, but since the car sits more these days it did have a few particles (non metal) in the bottom. I
will orientate the sock to fit the tray with long end down. Will post back after completion, even though I know this is an old post.
