Default ...The modifications have begun - 12rwhp/11rwtq w/ just this...

{SuperNatural} New Z06 - already getting round #1 of modifications

Tonight, the car hauler from Callaway Cars showed up to deliver my twinturbo and while there, I peeked inside the trailer and caught a glimpse of the (automotive) future - BIG time power in the form of the new C6 Z06 in a pretty silver wrapper!

I am sure they will have more to follow however, the inital power just from the first modification - a Callaway Honker Airbox, netted a solid gain of 12hp and 11 lb-ft of torque

While more development is in the works, it is interesting to see where the car is at after just one week

... Enjoy

Did you tell them to pull the fuse for the vacuum valve for the exhaust? That alone beats the honker!

PimpDadd, before pics look just like any other LS7 C6 Z06 under the hood - I am sure there are some out there onthe web

No, I didn't - right now, they focused on the air going in (Honker) and made the "ring" to house the mass air sensor (see pic above) to mate the Honker the the TB tube

...about 15 Dyno pulls were made witht he car they said - All in the same operating temp ranges and the graph abaove is what they felt was a fair representation of the overall dyno session before/after for that component.

I do hear they will be addressing the exhaust soon Thanks for the info

The only issue I have with reading a dyno graph with raw data is that the max power is read from one of the peaks... I wish dyno jets would apply a smoothing function to the data and the 460 max would probably be closer to 455-456. I realize it's splitting hairs, but a smoothing function would be more accurate.

- with all due respect, please re-inspect the graph, it represents the dyno pulls and respective gain(s) The Honker made more power time & time again, the graph is just a sample...

While I was not present for the pulls, I am am familiar w/ how Callaway Cars tests their cars/components and what you see there is bonafide and if I am reading the image right, there was "smoothing" listed in the top right corner of the graph - you may have to scroll over to that side if your monitors image or resolution will not allow a full screen view.

I hope this helps

Nothing else that I've noticed.

I am certain that a new cam is part of the program in the works

The C6 Z06 SuperNatural may be the best Callaway yet I cannot wait to drive one!

Tom, it adds noise! I don't see how it would add more peak HP because it opens at 3,000 or so RPMs normally. Many years ago, when I was racing, they forced us to add mufflers of sorts. The first track I went to was Roebling Road. I was shocked at all the car noises I heard. I also felt the noise reduction units did add a little mid range torque and did not hurt HP. I actually ran faster times with the devices. This would make me think that maybe the car performs better with the exhaust valves closed and working properly. It is just too cool to get the car to hook up here so far so I can't say for sure. I will be able to tell you after it warms up.
